The actions of Governor Snyder is heinous that allowed the exposure of Flint children to high level of lead.

Snyder needs to personally sued for allowing the danger to the children of lead in the water. He is not qualified to determine the quality of water. He is qualified as Governor to assign professionals to determine what is going on.

Where is the federal EPA? Where is President Obama regarding this travesty called a Governor? Snyder needs to be removed from office as he has allowed threats to children to exist at all!

Something hasn't been right in Flint, Michigan, (click here) for months. Residents have been getting sick, and the water is so tainted that it damaged car parts at a General Motors plant.

Parents in town, like Lee Anne Walters, won't let their children drink water from the faucet, she told Michigan Radio. For months, they've been surviving off bottled water alone – even for showers.

The problem with the water supply, officials said, is lead. In 2014, Flint switched its water supply to the Flint River, NPR said, and studies of the city's children have revealed dangerously high blood lead levels, Mayor Karen Weaver said. Weaver said the lead could cause irreversible health problems for those who ingest it. As a result, she declared an emergency in hopes that state and federal assistance will put a stop to this "man-made disaster."...

General Motors needs to sue the Governor for damage to their engines. He is NOT accepting the warnings of professionals. He is rejecting the responsibility of a Governor to protect people and commerce. This is his second term and prepare for corruption beyond any definition known to the USA.

THIS NIGHTMARE IS ONLY THE BEGINNING TO THE NIGHTMARE CALLED SNYDER IN HIS SECOND TERM.

The people of Michigan need a "Snyder Watch" until this Governor is out of office.

The DNC needs new leadership. That should have happened after the disastrous 2014 outcome.

This is not an issue for either of the campaigns, the failure of the site was the of a vendor of the DNC and the responsibility ends there.

The information that was suppose to be protected has to be restored, however, there should not be any punitive measures against the campaigns.

The FACTS are becoming clearer. The DNC vendor is responsible for a so-called glitch. The DNC should be apologizing to both campaigns. The Sanders' campaign has a lot of young talent that is playing a part in a major campaign for the first time. This should be a sincere exercise in morality and appropriate measures of outrage. If the Sanders' campaign realized they were looking at an open assess that was suppose to be separate, that means the Sanders' campaign was compromised as well. But, for the entire campaign of Senator Sanders to be compromised in it's ability to move forward is completely negligent of the DNC. It appears as though the way Schultz regards the Sanders' campaign as disposable to the outcome of the Democratic nomination.

I expect and demand Schultz return the Sanders' campaign to full status.

It's increasingly clear that Debbie Wasserman Schultz, (click here) Chair of the Democratic National Committee, isn't acting as a neutral party Chair, trying to insure a fair and democratic primary and building the Democratic Party in the states.

Rather, she's acting as a shill for Hillary Clinton, doing everything in her power to ensure that no one will effectively challenge Hillary's coronation as the nominee.

Wasserman Schultz is committing political malpractice and should be removed.

Remember that Wasserman Schultz was National Co-Chair of Hillary's 2008 Presidential campaign against Barack Obama and has been a loyal Clinonista. Her actions throughout the campaign have made it clear that she's misusing her position as party chair to serve as a campaign operative for Clinton and not a representative of the entire party....

The Sanders' Campaign is not changing their story.

The DNC never bothered getting the FACTS before they penalized a vital part of the Democratic Party and one of the most inspiring national campaigns in a very long time.

The plan involved Farook to throw pipe bombs on the freeway, which they believed would disable cars and halt traffic. Farook would then move through the stopped cars and shoot into them while Marquez shot into the cars from a nearby hillside, watching out for law enforcement officers that he would shoot...

How it is every Cleric and Imam are their own authority in the Muslim faith.

Muslim is a monotheistic religion.. There is only one definition of God. How are all these people being lead astray from that central belief?

Los Angeles school district officials (click here) on Thursday authorized their legal staff to sue Southern California Gas Co. if necessary to recoup substantial costs piling up as a result of a leak in a natural gas storage well in Aliso Canyon.

The most significant expense so far is the Board of Education's decision, at the same meeting Thursday, to support a plan to relocate students and staff members at two Porter Ranch schools affected by the fumes.

The district did not release figures at its meeting because officials said they were still tallying the costs involved, said Mark Hovatter, head of facilities for the nation's second-largest school system.

Josh Uretsky should not have been fired.

This is ridiculous. Josh was tryng to understand what was wrong with the DNC fire walls that separated the campaigns from each other.

Josh was rightfully worried about Senator Sanders information after he realized he was seeing Hillary Clinton's material. Senator Sanders information was exposed as well and he was worried. That is what he is suppose to do.

This is the DNC's problem and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz won't take responsibility for her lack of oversight. She needs to find who exposed that material in the first place! 

The political pressure on Senator Sanders forced the scapegoating of Josh Uresky. He needs to be reinstated and the DNC Chair needs to take responsibility of her lack of oversight.

This is not Josh's fault and should not be scapegoated for the failure of the DNC.

As Peter Rox (click here) waited anxiously under dark skies for the road to his tornado-ravaged house to reopen, his 13-year-old daughter turned to him with a question.
"Dad can we return my Christmas presents?" Bree Rox said.
The family needed money for their house, the teenager argued....

..."They were really upset and frightened.
"My daughter is 13 and she is finding it quite hard to be inside so she is over at a friend's trying to think of other things."
The Rox family live in one of many properties on Tasman Street that were ripped apart by this week's tornado. It is a street that celebrates Christmas Day together each year, taking chairs and beers onto the front lawns while kids ride new bikes and scooters up and down the cul-de-sac....

Religious assignments are inappropriate for public schools.

Religious practices are too sensitive and personal to bring attention to a particular religion or a particular practice. An entire school system has closed down because of a calligraphy assignment. I think the American people have had enough of an insult to separation of church and state.

The school assignment is somewhere among these words and concepts.

This Arabic phrase, shahada, (click here) also called kalima, is a simple statement; sincerely believing in the meanings of it and the faith behind it can change one's life for ever. It consists of two parts: first half is tawheed the unity and oneness of Allah. This fundamental concept of Islam is expressed by Allah himself in His book Qur'an: "He, Allah is one. Allah is He on Whom all depend. He begets not, nor is He begotten, And none is like Him."

The second part of kalima is risalah: the acceptance of Prophethood. Muslims accept that all Prophets were chosen by Allah to deliver His literal word, the basic message of His oneness to all nations, in their own languages, at different times. Adam was the first Prophet and Muhammad the final of all messengers to mankind. This belief is central to Islam.

"There is no other god than Allah, Mohammad is the messager of Allah."

The murky nature of the USA law in regard to a wall between church and state has gone too far. There are even hatred of women that take birth control in some privately owned companies. Is there a worship chapel in their store fronts? Are there prayers required before entering? This has become hideous to our democracy.

The USA has gotten to the point in our politics where democracy means nothing so long as right wing politics can assault it for it's generosity of inclusion.

Enough.

Calligraphy. Amazing. That in and of itself is an insult to the Muslim faith. Assigning a religion for the purpose of complexity of a school assignment is an insult. It is like teaching a cooking class how to bake communion host wafers. It isn't done in reverence to the faith, it is disconnected from the purpose of the writing for TECHNIQUE.

Stauton — About 100 people (click here) came to a forum Tuesday night to discuss a recent incident at Riverheads High School that has upset students and parents.
During a world geography lesson on Friday about world religions, including Islam, teacher Cheryl LaPorte had students complete an assignment that involved practicing calligraphy and writing a Muslim statement of faith, also known as the shahada, which translates as: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." Students were also reportedly shown copies of the Quran....

This is not Senator Sanders issue. The DNC screwed up the security of candidates accounts.

Senator Sanders is being victimized by the DNC leadership. The DNC needs a new chairperson. That has been true for a long time now.

Ask Senator Boxer if she is interested in serving as chairperson.

A friend (click here) of the San Bernardino, Calif., couple whose shooting rampage two weeks ago left 14 people dead, was arrested and charged Thursday with the unlawful purchase of two assault rifles used in the attack.
Enrique Marquez, 24, is also accused of plotting at least two other assaults, in 2011 and 2012, with Sayed Farook that were not carried out.
Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, died in an exchange of gunfire with police following the Dec. 2 rampage....

There has to be some kind of test to qualify spouses. Married at least ten years of something like that. This is ridiculous. It is obvious the marriage itself is fraud.

The media is more than willing to talk about guns and deaths, but, not realistic problems with immigration.

This is absolutely ridiculous. The USA values marriage and holds in high esteem and yet we are allowing spouses to immigrate into the USA on fraud. How hideous is that?

Washington — Federal prosecutors (click here) plan to file charges against Enrique Marquez, a friend and neighbor of the couple who carried out the massacre in San Bernardino, Calif., earlier this month, according to law enforcement officials.

The Justice Department could make the charges public as early as Thursday. It would be the first time anyone has been charged in connection with the shooting on Dec. 2, which left 14 people dead.

Mr. Marquez, who converted to Islam several years ago, bought the two assault rifles that Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, used in the shooting, according to law enforcement officials. They said Mr. Marquez has told investigators that he bought the guns for Mr. Farook, who believed he could not pass the required background check....

If we could read minds we might better understand the reasons for breaking the law and causing mass deaths, but we can't, so we are left with speculation.

Why would Farook not purchase his own gun. I don't think he had the money to carry out the purchase or otherwise. The idea he had to take loans in order to provide some kind of asset to the support of his child and mother after his death lends itself to the concept of conspiracy.

I think money is a larger reason for the buy by someone else, but, the idea Farook's identity wasn't attached to a gun purchase would not elevate any suspicions if their radicalism was discovered by intelligence agencies. Just because the USA intelligence agencies didn't find social sites interesting doesn't mean the people planning the assault isn't thinking about it. 

I understand Director Comey stated there was absolutely no reason the Farook couple would have been suspected. That might be the case for his practice, but, it is not the case with the NSA. The email metadata connected to the USA never picked this up. It should have. The communications between the Farroks and Europe and the middle east had to have been gathered in any NSA net operation.

That is the issue. The FBI might not have any suspicions, but, the FBI also relies on the NSA to provide any communications where danger to Americans may be a problem. 

FOX News is also stating Director Comey is calling the killing of our Marines in Chattanooga is a terrorist attack. The USA is failing to pick up important information to protect the country. The funding set aside for the NSA metadata sweeps is very expensive. The building alone where these activities take place was an enormous investment after the 2001 attacks. 

Basically, what the heck are we doing? Our investments haven't paid off as it should and now we are faced with how are we going to adequately address these problems? If Comey is saying there was no way to know these attacks were planned or going to happen; then we have a real problem, don't we?

In the 1950s it was "Duck and Cover." The terror in the country was attached to nuclear weapons. So, since 2001 the USA has their terror served up to them AGAIN with nothing that works to protect us. It is a concern and my best recommendation is for local governments to have their own security council. Let them get to know the town, merchants and all possible holes in their security fabric. Neighborhoods should have neighborhood Captains that carry concerns to the local security council. The Captains could be volunteers, but, please don't arm them otherwise we have Trayvon Martin all over again.

Neighborhoods (Watch) is legitimate where information exists to help define danger to citizens. I really do think it is the only viable answer. Then have regular meetings, let's say every six months, with FBI contact perhaps state by state to report the concerns as reported to the SBI. Not that the SBI has to wait to report activities in the state to the FBI. If there is a systematic review of potential danger, we can become better at detecting these dangers and moving against it. 

The examples to power such review of neighborhoods are within the USA experience in the face of failure such as Chattanooga, Boston and San Bernardino. Let's learn from them and find a way to LEGALLY provide surveillance. There has to be a way.

All senior management (click here) of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) have resigned, hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged in his annual news conference that Russia would help eradicate the 'poison' of doping.

On December 10 RUSADA had amended its charter to create a supervisory board designed to monitor its activities and guarantee impartiality in its operations.

The mass resignations come after the supervisory board recommended that all top management of RUSADA resign immediately - including Executive Director Nikita Kamaeva and Deputy Director General for International Cooperation Igor Zagorski, as well as Ramil Khabriev, the CEO.

After the resignations, Anna Antseliovich was appointed acting CEO....

It wasn't long ago Russia sponsored the Winter Olympics. During that time he found he needed to appear at some venues where judges could have tainted the outcome of Russia competition. 

I think it was President Putin's first exposure to the seriousness of anti-doping policies and enforcing them. As a result he is taking a greater interest to insure Russian sports figures are safe, habit free and well within any standard of international competition. I congratulate him for taking Russian competitors as serious to their country and the sports important to them.

International competition where there are no or few professional teams within a country is a very serious aspect to a country's identity. This is a very good idea by President Putin. One of the enormously important sports to international competition is soccer. The "World Cup" is a national event in many countries.

I have seen Foreign Minister Lavrov do the very same thing. They literally set aside a day where an entire block of time is dedicated to speaking to the media. They also include in that media conference young people with their own newspapers so they get to ask questions as well. 

Very different than the USA media. It would be a shock to the system of American media if President Putin or Secretary Kerry sat still for four hours to speak to the media.

What is the future of USA global support?

The numbers below is from 2013, but, the future of the USA global involvement may mean increasing missions of USAID.

The populations around the world are growing. We know for a fact poverty breeds extremism. The land currently in poor condition or involved in military disputes and ambitions needs to be restored to support people and the future of their children.

Land is going to be at a premium throughout the world as populations increase and demand for space and food becomes critical. An example of how the USA can turn can turn the fate of people around, is in Ethiopia. If Ethiopia were provided dams to collect water for irrigation and cities the future of this once lush land would improve.

In fiscal 2013, U.S. government funding for humanitarian assistance and international development will total around $23 billion. (Back in October, I included spending on diplomacy in the numbers that I reported. In order to directly address the question of how much we give in aid to other countries, I'm now leaving out diplomacy and operations of the State Department.)

In addition, the U.S. will spend around $14 billion in fiscal 2013 for foreign military assistance – that's money spent on training foreign armies and providing them with weapons....

The UN has warned (click here for video, too) that more than 8.2 million people in Ethiopia will be in need of food aid by the beginning of 2016 because of a severe drought.
A lack of rain has meant that crop yields in the worst-affected areas are down by 90% this year.
The Ethiopian government has set aside nearly £130m to deal with the crisis but the UN says a further £330m is needed.

A smartphone app (click here) used by Islamic State (Isis) to spread news and propaganda could be behind the massive attack on the internet's core infrastructure that took place earlier this month, according to several cybersecurity experts.

Analysis of the IS Amaq Agency app has revealed that it was potentially the source of a botnet created to perform a massive DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack on root name servers. A more powerful attack in the future could cause significant disruption to internet services and could even temporarily take down the internet.

The cyberattack, which took place between 30 November and 1 December, targeted the 13 internet root name servers that are responsible for supporting almost the entire internet. Cybersecurity experts, high-profile hackers and members of the hacktivist collective Anonymous now claim that a smartphone app was the most likely culprit for the botnet attack, which flooded the servers with five million queries per second at the peak of the attack. It is estimated that as few as 18,000 devices running the app through Wi-Fi networks would have been capable of creating such traffic....

Can a zombie apocalypse really occur? (click here) Tara Smith, an associate professor from Ohio's Kent State University is issuing an international call to action to fund and promote studies on how to prevent a possible zombie outbreak.

"Zombie expert Matt Mogk defines a zombie with three criteria: it is a reanimated human corpse; it is relentlessly aggressive, and it is biologically infected and infectious. But Mogk notes that this definition has been altered by the recognition of 'rage' zombies, which are infected but still alive," Smith wrote on a recently published BMJ study....

There has been a focus in some states regarding problems with fungus and molds. The only way to stop a fungus that has taken over part of the body is removal of the appendage or otherwise. There have been some very disfiguring surgeries performed to save the lives of people. 

...In a report by EurekAlert, Smith believes that the increase of similar zombie pathogens should be a sign that additional attention and funding should be provided into studying possible disease outbreaks.

It makes sense that New Jersey's Rutgers would be working to fight fungal infections, because, it is the state where the pharmaceutical industry lives. This tragedy still goes on even in the USA.

Fungal infections take more than 1.3 million lives each year worldwide, nearly as many as tuberculosis. Perlin has made it his mission to reduce the death toll and severe disability that fungi can cause.
"More than a million people around the world are blind because of fungal infections of the eye," Perlin points out, "and half of the world's 350,000 asthma-related deaths each year stem from fungal infection that could be treated effectively with drugs."
In addition, fungal infections can complicate the recoveries of organ recipients. They also are the stuff of vaginal yeast infections, which strike nearly three quarters of American women at least once in their lifetimes according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention....

The streets of Baltimore (click here) were calm overnight Wednesday as activists urged peace and healing after the announcement of a mistrial in the trial of police officer William Porter.

People gathered across the city overnight to protest over the decision, but it remained largely peaceful.
