Will clinical pediatricians please advocate appropriate laws for their patients?

There is no reason for guess work. The pharmaceutical companies are not carrying out pediatric equivalents to their adult treatment drugs.

...Proper clinical trials for childhood cancer drugs are scarce. (click here) Designing a clinical trial is never simple, but adding children to the picture complicates the process immensely. Children are not just ‘small adults’ — they metabolize drugs in very different ways. It is difficult to predict from adult or animal studies whether a chemotherapy drug will be more or less toxic in a child, and at what dose. The process of obtaining informed consent for children participating in a trial can also be more complicated. And companies fear that the death of a child — even if unrelated to the treatment — could bring bad publicity for a new drug.

Recent years have seen attempts to make more drugs available to treat children. In the United States, a 2003 law known as the Pediatric Research Equity Act (PREA) requires that companies develop a plan for how they will test experimental drugs in children, although many trials are exempted. A second law, called the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act, motivates companies to perform paediatric clinical trials by granting an extra six months of market exclusivity for the adult drug.

Overall, these laws have been successful, leading to hundreds of drug labels being updated with information for use in children. But legal loopholes often prevent children with cancer from accessing new drugs. For instance, therapies for conditions that do not affect children — such as Alzheimer’s disease — are exempt from the PREA. And exemptions intended for such diseases have been broadly applied to cancer. For example, therapies that are being trialled in adults with breast cancer are exempted because children do not get that cancer, even if the drug could treat a childhood cancer in a different organ....

The Trump call on Russia to find Clinton emails and expose her is questionable treason.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump (click here) said he hoped Russia had hacked rival Hillary Clinton's email, essentially sanctioning a foreign power's cyberspying of a secretary of state's correspondence.
"Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing," Mr Trump said, staring directly into the cameras. "I think you will probably be mightily rewarded by our press."...

Foreign governments are really rattled a presidential nominee would call on foreign services to expose Americans. Where does it stop?

The FBI has been emphatic about it's scrutiny of the Clinton server. The words by Donald Trump calls to the fact the FBI is inferior in their investigations than Russian hackers.

I have made entries to the vulnerabilities of the F-35 to Chinese hackers. It was never calling on Chinese hackers to prove my case. Donald Trump is calling on Russia to prove his case in hopes there are crimes to be revealed. That is an extremist view of the USA.

Donald Trump needs to develop his skills as a statesman and not a thug.

I am sure by now the DNC is consulting Homeland Security. The people of the USA pay plenty for securing it's country and the DNC gets hacked? Really?

Father Jacques Hamel was a man of peace. It only makes good sense to realize buildings of faith would be a target.

Churches in Britain (click here) have been told to tighten security after the murder of an 85-year-old priest in Normandy yesterday.
Despite there being no specific intelligence relating to attacks against the Christian community in the UK, the country's National Police Chiefs' Council is urging the community to be alert but not alarmed, report concerns and review their security as a precaution.
Two terrorists, proclaimed as "soldiers" by the Islamic State group, stormed the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, a working-class town near Rouen, northwest of Paris, during morning mass yesterday and cut the throat of Father Jacques Hamel after taking worshippers including two nuns hostage.

"Charismatic Daesh" will live past the end of it's occupation of Syria and Iraq. Those that define their religious belief with violence will carry out 'domestic terrorism' as a retaliation against the destruction of Daesh' occupation of land in the middle east. The destruction of Daesh in Syria and Iraq is only the first step.

Europe has the correct focus of routing out violent citizens to end the domestic terrorism. Due process will be the place where the media should focus as well as understanding actions against citizens and/or those on visas and/or immigrants.

It is important citizens are followed by the media when they are arrested. Two fold. Protect the innocent and realize how violent citizens seeks success within the current infrastructure of any country.

Isil opened a new front in its war with the West (click here) by murdering a French priest on Tuesday in the first such attack on a Christian church in Europe.
Two terrorists, proclaimed as “soldiers” by the extremist group, cut the throat of Father Jacques Hamel, an 85-year-old priest, after taking worshippers including two nuns hostage during mass at a church in Normandy.
Experts said the atrocity, in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near Rouen, marked a new departure for the jihadists following a catalogue of attacks on places of worship in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Father Hamel – forced to kneel by his two killers who were later shot dead by police – was last night hailed as a “martyr of faith”....

Footage has emerged of traffic chaos (click here) around a popular Pokestop at Rhodes with enraged motorists dicing with witless pedestrians oblivious to the danger.
The crazy scenes show Pokefans running in front of cars as drivers honk their horns and try to navigate their way through the crowd spilling on to the roadway. The video emerged on social media after residents had been criticised for over-reacting to the hundreds of people playing the game Pokemon Go around their apartment buildings and in nearby parks.
This follows Canada Bay Council warning to rowdy gatherings of players and calls for the game to remove some of the three Pokestops that are nearby.
Council has engaged extra rangers to manage the crowds of Pokemon Go players who converge nightly on Peg Paterson Park.

The Republican House majjority passed "Fast Track" while removing protections for displaced workers 219 to 208 with 8 not voting.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied within the margin of error in most polls today.

Mr. Trump forgets who passed TPP in the first place. Republican majorities in the House and Senate passed TPP. He needs to explain how he is going end TPP when he gets in office. If the current administration hurries TPP through after the election he will benefit as well. So, what is the new President of any party going to do to end the enactment of TPP.

The unions need to be prepared to file injunctions the day after the elections of 2016.

Last week the House of Representatives voted (click here) on Fast Track authority for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), twice. That’s right twice. The first time the bill overwhelmingly failed due to a number of concerns and political divergence. In a surprising maneuver they voted again on Thursday, this time removing a controversial aspect of the bill call Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA), which provides workers whose jobs have been impacted by trade with federal aid. By removing the TAA the House passed a Fast Track bill, mind you not in a bipartisan manner only 28 democrats voting in favor of Fast Track...

Protecting the lives of people in custody have to be a part of setencing and prison reforms.

There is no other word for the exoneration of the police in regard to Freddie Gray, but, corruption. There continues to be deaths when people are imprisoned by police.

Ordinary care is the care that an average reasonable man exercises to prevent harm to the person or property of others and failure to exercise which when under a duty to do so constitutes actionable negligence on the part of one causing such harm.

All the people that die while in custody of the police are innocent people. They have never been proven to be guilty, that is especially true of Sandra Bland. Something needs to be done. There has to be a government study of the problem.

The lawsuits of negligent homicide are not a deterrent to the practices that place people at risk while in custody. The governments simply settle the lawsuits because they know there is no basis for defeating these cases. Deterrents don't work, there needs to be a legitimate protection for people in custody.

There is something very wrong here.

Prosecutors dropped all remaining charges (click here) against three Baltimore police officers accused in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray in a downtown courtroom on Wednesday morning, concluding one of the most high-profile criminal cases in Baltimore history.
The startling move was an apparent acknowledgement of the unlikelihood of a conviction following the acquittals of three other officers on similar and more serious charges by Circuit Judge Barry G. Williams, who was expected to preside over the remaining trials as well.

It also means the office of Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby will secure no convictions in the case after more than a year of dogged fighting, against increasingly heavy odds, to hold someone criminally accountable in Gray's death.
Officer William Porter's trial ended with a hung jury and a mistrial in December, before Williams acquitted Officers Edward Nero and Caesar Goodson and Lt. Brian Rice at bench trials in May, June, and July, respectively....

I think one of the reasons John Hinckley is being released from prison us because James Brady is died in 2014. James Brady's death certificate stated the reason for his death was due to the gunshot wound in 1981. The coroner stated James Brady would have lived longer if he did not suffer from the traumatic injury.

James Brady lived in Alexandria, Virginia near Hinckley will be released to his mother's home. John Hinckley was never tried for the death of James Brady because he was already held insane on the day of the shooting.

Washington  -- John W. Hinckley Jr.,  (click here) will be released from a government psychiatric hospital more than 35 years after he attempted to assassinate president Ronald Reagan and shot three others outside the Washington Hilton on March 30, 1981, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Hinckley, 61, no longer poses a danger to himself or others and will be freed to live full-time with his mother in Williamsburg, Va., effective as soon as Aug. 5 subject to dozens of temporary treatment and monitoring conditions, U.S. District Judge Paul L Friedman of Washington wrote.
If Hinckley adheres to all restrictions, they could begin to be phased out after 12 to 18 months, removing him from court control for the first time since he was confined to St. Elizabeth’s hospital after the shooting, according to the order.

It is a magnificent documentary about the role of art in emotional recovery. 

The aftermath of the violence at Sandy Hook was not discussed but it came up during a post film Q and A. Yes, the children all suffer from PTSD. There are adults that do as well. Think about it. 

Bill is real. His love for Hillary is real. He was in love before she realized he was really taken by her.

His importance of Hillary never diminished, in his life and that of her professional life. He admired her abilities and recognized the leader she was.

He honored her tonight.

Black women needs escorts through their jail process to maintain them alive and not distressed about the future.

Black women in America are unique in society. They are often the healers and the councilors to others. When they make a mistake there can be many reasons why the incident becomes bigger than their life. Black women have the burden of living a perfect life, because, others look to them for strength.

When Black women lose their freedom for whatever reason they do, they are usually the sole income to a household. They can also be alone in that capacity. They can easily fall into despair when faced with a mistake as occurred with Sandra Bland. Her arrest was more than she could bear.

Besides the reality of the difference in Black women's lives and how they move through life, there is the question about these deaths. Six deaths of Black women in one month while in the custody of police isn't bad enough, there is no trace as to why they are dead.

The system has to address the issues of Black women in a way that resolves their conflict at the time of these obvious and dangerous mistakes.

There is no additional infrastructure needed. There is a social worker on the staff of hospitals 24 hours a day, 365 days a week. There is no reason for their desperation if they were provided a way of resolving conflict in their lives at that moment. It gives another person a chance to document the event that brought them to police custody as well.

Reed-Veal's own daughter was taken into custody on July 10, 2015, following an argument over a minor traffic violation in Texas. Three days later she was found dead in her jail cell, and the county coroner classified her death as a suicide.
A grand jury chose not to indict anyone in her death, but Bland's name rang out in the streets and on social media channels, prompting the viral hashtags #IfIDieInPoliceCustody and #WhatHappenedToSandraBland.
But as Reed-Veal noted, there are many black women whose final hours in police custody remain mysterious. The women, who, like Bland, died in July 2015, include:

• Kindra Chapman, 18, July 14: Chapman was arrested in Alabama after allegedly stealing a cellphone. She was found dead less than two hours after being placed in a cell. Her death was also ruled a suicide.
• Alexis McGovern, 28, July 17: McGovern died while in custody at the St. Louis City Justice Center. Officials say the woman experienced a "medical emergency" shortly before her scheduled release and was taken to the medical infirmary. McGovern was later pronounced dead. Though she was not black, her death has been memorialized by local activists concerned with treatment and safety in jails and prisons.
• Joyce Curnell, 50, July 22: Curnell was arrested for shoplifting in South Carolina and detained in a Charleston County jail. She had been taken to a hospital for a medical issue before being transported to the jail. The next day she was found dead.
• Ralkina Jones, 37, July 26: That Friday, the Cleveland, Ohio, mother was arrested following a domestic dispute with her husband. On Saturday Jones was reportedly treated for several medical issues in the hospital. Hospital attendants evaluated and released Jones that same night, but by 7:30 am the next day she was found dead in her cell.
• Raynette Turner, 43, July 27: Turner was found dead in her holding cell while waiting to be arraigned for shoplifting. The day before, Turner reportedly complained about not feeling well and was taken to a medical center, but was later returned to her cell. She left behind eight children and a husband of 23 years.

There have been efforts to track incidents of police brutality against black women, though an exact figure has yet to be determined. Still, a number of publicized altercations between black women and police highlight a disturbing problem. Most notably in January, a former Oklahoma City officer was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting eight black women while on duty — though he was accused by 13 different women....

"We all knew she could do it."

There doesn't have to be a motive when mimics commit crime. They just want to kill for maximum impact on the country.

Police identified (click here) a 14-year-old boy and 18-year-old man as the two killed Monday morning in a shooting that left more than 14 others injured outside a Fort Myers nightclub.

Club Blu on Evans Avenue, a few miles south of the city’s downtown area, was hosting a “Swimsuit Glow Party” for middle and high school students. The event had just wrapped up when the shooting started about 12:30 a.m.

Fort Myers police said the shooting is not terrorism-related.

Detectives were questioning three people possibly connected and working to determine a possible motive.

The two people killed were identified as Sean Archilles, 14, and Stef’an Strawder, 18.

None of the other victims’ names have been released. Their injuries ranged from minor to life-threatening, police said....

The more I think about it....

...there are lots of lessons as to the stark difference between the economy of Bill Clinton and the one of "W". 

Supply side economics destroyed most if not all those new millionaires under the Bill Clinton administration.

The Bernie supporters need to reflect on years before their time. Many are young people and have the right idea about their lives, but, they also need a lesson about economics they did not witness.

"W" was about big box stores. The more merchandise they could import from China and India the cheaper the products and the more small businesses were destroyed. 

Republicans like to say they are all about small businesses, but, they aren't. They actually make it far more difficult for local economies to survive. Then the American people find themselves in the breach when Wall Street collapses from it's "Bull Hubris." 

2008 will occur all over again. The economy will be handed over to Wall Street again and the people who found their way into small businesses and burgeoning millionaires or multi-millionaires will watch their business disappear to cheap imports again. It is all the Republicans know. They know nothing about microeconomics. They simply invite Wall Street into the White House, or literally into the US Treasury as a Secretary and ask what do you need to improve the economy?

Bill Clinton created a far more vibrant economy by inviting other countries to come and visit the USA. The Small Business Administration was open and it provided a platform for those interested in having and attending to their own business. 

Supply side economics. That is what will result if Hillary Clinton is not supported into the White House and the "W" economy will be back again.

Think about it. That is all I ask. Just think about. 

Vote your best interest. It is okay if your conscience bothers you a bit going into that voting booth. It isn't Bernie. But, that doesn't mean Bernie's supporters lost their power to create the country they want. They have to have the right people in place to make that happen.

Make the country perform. Don't make mistakes that cause adversity in the long wrong. A voting booth is no place for anger. A voting booth is where you take your power seriously and vote your best interest.

I have faith in Bernie's people. They need to start on the next candidate they will promote. They harnessed the system, now make it run.

I think the DNC convention is going well.

The great divide between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sander's delegates is her relationship with Wall Street. She should make it clear the interests of the supporters of Bernie Sanders will be protected during her presidency.

Perhaps pointing to the presidency of Bill Clinton is a good idea. He came in after H.W. Bush and turned the USA into a service economy that spawned considerable entrepreneurs. The Bill Clinton administration saw more new millionaires than any other president in history. 

The economy grew, people were happy, we were not involved in a war, but, were involved in power struggles in the world. Bill Clinton saw eight years of growth with a surplus in the treasury at the end of his term. He had a Vice President that embraced the climate crisis and never let go.

I can't imagine Hillary Clinton being much different than her spouse. She is different. She has a focus that is different, but, it is a benevolent focus and not at all leaning into Republican territory with Wall Street. Republicans sacrifice the middle class for profits to Wall Street. I would think that is obvious by now. I don't see Hillary Clinton doing that, but, she simply has to reject the TPP. It is a bad trade agreement. It also increases tensions in the Pacific. TPP is not at all a good idea. BREXIT. Think about it.

Troops out now!

There is no excuse for this. We have witnessed some of the most reckless troop activity since the USA military entered Afghanistan in 2001.

Fifteen years is far too long and the USA is not building an ally, it is alienating the Afghan people.

Twenty-nine percent of the causalities are CHILDREN! NO MORE!

In the first six months of this year, (click here) 5,166 civilians were either killed or maimed in Afghanistan, a half-year record since counting began in 2009, a United Nations report published today shows.
Between January and June this year, the human rights team of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) documented 1,601 civilian deaths and 3,565 injured civilians, an increase of four per cent in the total number of casualties compared to the first six months of 2015, according to the report, titled 'Afghanistan Midyear Report 2016; Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict.' The total civilian casualty figure recorded by the UN since 1 January 2009 through 30 June 2016 has risen to 63,934, including 22,941 deaths and 40,993 injured.......This year's casualties include 1,509 children, 388 dead and 1,121 injured, a figure Mr. Zeid described as “alarming and shameful,” particularly as it represents the highest numbers of children killed or wounded in a six-month period since counting began in 2009.... There were also 507 women casualties, 130 killed and 377 injured. The figures are conservative – almost certainly underestimated – given the strict methodology employed in their documentation and in determining the civilian status of those affected....
...“Every single casualty documented in this report – people killed while praying, working, studying, fetching water, recovering in hospitals – […] represents a failure of commitment and should be a call to action for parties to the conflict to take meaningful, concrete steps to reduce civilians' suffering and increase protection,” Yamamoto said.
“Platitudes not backed by meaningful action ring hollow over time. History and the collective memory of the Afghan people will judge leaders of all parties to this conflict by their actual conduct,” he added.
Casualties attributed to pro-Government forces increased 47 per cent...

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in handing over the gavel to the Interim Chairwoman Donna Brazile did the right thing. She is appreciated for the years she lead the DNC from 2011 to present. 

Were the emails changed from their original content?

It is agreed the emails were hacked (stolen) from DNC records, cyber records. Were they altered? See, the truth is a really difficult thing to live with. Most Americans value the truth. It is ingrained through our justice system. So, the emails came to the public through an illegal act. But, that doesn't mean the emails are false.

Understand this, I would not have speculated about anyone's spoken faith. I can't conceive of it. The leader of a very powerful political party not only conceived of questioning Bernie Sander's faith, but, stated it in an email in case it had to be deployed for Hillary Clinton's victory. Who is really trying effect the outcomes of elections?

...Proving the source of a cyberattack is notoriously difficult. (click here) But researchers have concluded that the national committee was breached by two Russian intelligence agencies, which were the same attackers behind previous Russian cyberoperations at the White House, the State Department and the Joint Chiefs of Staff last year. And metadata from the released emails suggests that the documents passed through Russian computers. Though a hacker claimed responsibility for giving the emails to WikiLeaks, the same agencies are the prime suspects. Whether the thefts were ordered by Mr. Putin, or just carried out by apparatchiks who thought they might please him, is anyone’s guess.

On Sunday morning, the issue erupted, as Mrs. Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, argued on ABC’s “This Week” that the emails were leaked “by the Russians for the purpose of helping Donald Trump” citing “experts” but offering no other evidence. Mr. Mook also suggested that the Russians might have good reason to support Mr. Trump: The Republican nominee indicated in an interview with The New York Times last week thathe might not back NATO nations if they came under attack from Russia — unless he was first convinced that the countries had made sufficient contributions to the Atlantic alliance....

I find it interesting people are actually afraid of the truth. I suggest those that know an alternative reality from the truth in this election come to terms with it now.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz's inappropriate standards for the DNC has existed for a while now. I don't care if she elected President Obama, I VOTED FOR HIM. I voted for him REGARDLESS of the lousy standards of Schultz. She needs to leave. She didn't elect him, the American people did. That is an ego the DNC does not need at any level. Amazing, a white woman with lousy standards for elections actually believes she elected Barak Obama to the presidency.

I can't believe this issue even exists. The Interim Chairwoman needs to gavel and gavel out the convention.

This is just so outrageous. There needs to be a primary challenge to Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I can't accept the fact this happened with the chairwoman of the DNC. It is unthinkable. She needs to leave. Now. It compromises every value I have held dear regarding the Democrats. I want no trace of her anywhere.
