Vulture capitalism. Just that simple. Who's next? THINK LOCAL ECONOMIES to preserve our way of life and Middle Class jobs.

Mediation was never going to work this late in the game. The companies indebtedness is too overwhelming and that was intentional. If unions want to stop this, they have to nip it in the bud. The unions have to take action against a company with increasing debt that will endanger workers careers. Hostess is the best example of Romney vulture capitalism. It doesn't matter how big they are or how hard they fall. Americans need to take notice of their 'Amerikana' slipping through their fingers with this form of vicious capitalism.

People have to ask, how did Hostess ever get here? Then they have to ask is what other companies in the USA are following the same path? People need to stop it. Vulture capitalism contracts the economy.

A quote from the lawyer below:

...received a "flood of inquiries" from potential suitors.

The Hostess products are still in demand and have a whole lot of others seeking the power of 'the brand names.' This is vulture capitalism. There is no reason why Hostess should have entered bankruptcy except it was managed to achieve that goal. Like, what? Citizens are ridiculed for declaring bankruptcy and they never have that as a goal. The management of Hostess had bankruptcy as a goal. Why are they rewarded by our laws to do so?

There is no moral content in this management style. There are huge ethical issues. The management style deceives the employees and unions as if they will avoid adverse outcomes at all costs when it was their goal from the beginning. Planning the destruction of companies for the sake of pocketing the cash, changing the paradigm of manufacturing in the USA has to be viewed as a draconian methodology allowed within our democracy. It should not be tolerated.

It is one thing for a company to face adverse problems and seek bankruptcy. An example is the airline industry. They are so customer service dense and are impacted by weather, etc., they do suffer deficit episodes that lead to exponential problems. When airline companies are impacted by circumstances outside of their control, they pay for hotel rooms, meals, rerouting passenger traffic and on top of all the respect the passengers receive; they still look elsewhere in the future. How do they not eventually file for bankruptcy?

That is not at all the case with Hostess. There are huge ethical issues and I'll go so far as to say, legal issues as well. The motives alone are criminal.

Twinkies maker Hostess Brands Inc. (click here) won court approval to start shutting down operations, selling its assets and laying off its 18,500 workers, after the failure of an 11th-hour mediation to try to resolve a labor dispute.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain gave Hostess the go-ahead Wednesday to sell its plants and brands after he presided over the closed-door talks Tuesday with the company and the striking Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union, which represents about 5,000 Hostess workers.
Heather Lennox, a lawyer for Hostess, said in court that the company has received a "flood of inquiries" from potential suitors.
Among the possible bidders are Nature's Own parent Flowers Foods Inc., Sun Capital Partners Inc., Sara Lee owner Grupo Bimbo, Pabst Blue Ribbon owner C. Dean Metropoulos & Co. and investment firm Hurst Capital, according to reports and analysts....

Too cute. Get the feeling it is feeding time?

Speaker Boner is nominated for the next Speaker of the divided Republican House.

Obamacare will not be repealed. The Bush Tax Cuts will expire and the sequester will go forward.

When have Republicans ever acted in the best interests of the country rather than Wall Street? When have the Republicans ever been able to reduce the cost of health care? We are in the mess we have now because of forty years of Republican policy.

I hope they replace Boner. If he is weak enough to play politics to win an election in the House there is no hope the House will ever be anything but divided.

The House had an illegitimate majority due to gerrymandering. They need to get over it. They lack moral content.

...The tactics of our repeal efforts (c;ick here) will have to change. But the strategic imperative remains the same. If we’re serious about getting our economy moving again, solving our debt and restoring prosperity for American families, we need to repeal Obamacare and enact common-sense, step-by-step reforms that start with lowering the cost of health care....

Boner doesn't pay attention, poor man. He has a very short memory. Are you hurtin' for your cronies, Boner?

A ceasefire. It is enforceable. The missiles and rockets have to stop.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr hold a news conference in Cairo to announce a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. (Egyptian State Television November 21, 2012)

That is magnificent work and in relatively short period of time. President Morsi is a reliable partner.

Egypt announced a cease-fire agreement (click here) between Israel and Hamas effective Wednesday evening local time, the Associated Press reported.
In details of the agreement obtained by the news agency, Israel will cease all military activity against the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip at 9 p.m. local time (11 a.m. PST) and Palestinian militants will cease rocket attacks into Israel. After 24 hours of quiet, Gaza's border crossings with Israel will be opened further to allow freer movement of goods and people.
The announcement by Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton followed talks in Cairo between Clinton and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi....

Congratulations to all parties and all peoples. Thank you.

Is there confusion about the attack on the Israeli bus? There should not be.

This attack is consistent across Islam. We still witness it in Iraq where a central government doesn't mean much to their personal revenge. It is part of the culture of violence within Islam that has replaced the Muslim faith.

The 'sects of faith' that has replaced the Muslim faith do not give governments validity. It is more difficult to have the people within Islam come to the government to solve their problems when those governments are corrupt as we witnessed when returning focus to Afghanistan.

The focus to stop these attacks is nearly impossible when conducting negotiations. There is no way the USA is going to recognize terrorists as a legitimate authority because it literally undermines the very negotiations. It is the sovereign authority of the countries involved that have to handle the violence. The problem has been the same for a long time, it is the violence.

The violence makes leaders hapless in their ability to control the peace within their country and enforceable in treaties. One of the most stark examples of this haplessness was Musharraf. Heck, he was nearly blown up twice crossing the same bridge inside Pakistan.

So the violence of terror groups is a real commodity that compromises country's leadership while providing autonomous economies, like the Afghanistan poppy economy or the USA drug economy. These economies accommodate violence and power through money. These acts of violence have to be contained by sovereign authorities.

Secretary Clinton has her hands full. She has to be able to negotiate a treaty between all the parties involved while making the enforcement measurable. It won't do anyone any good if the day after the signing of a treaty or peace agreement Israel continues to receive violence and returns to a defensive posture. The agreements have to be enforceable. Literally, the sovereign authority have to return their 'sects' to a civilized content and focus on their future and not revenge over the past. It is why it is taking so long. All are hopeful President Morsy can open new dimensions in peace to bring about sincere treaties between all the nations involved. Time will tell.

A bus exploded in Israel. I am sure President Morsy is familiar with the violence of the extremists.

The bus explosion is a form of retaliation to sabotage any peace negotiations. What else is new? It would not be negotiations without them. Sympathies to the families losing family members.
The talks have to go forward and President Morsy is in danger of being a target no different than those before him. Welcome to the reality of the Middle East and its neverending story.

The BBC's Wyre Davies (click here for video) reports on the situation in Gaza City after eight days of exchanges of fire between Israel and Gaza.
At least 10 people have been injured in an explosion on a bus in Israel's commercial capital, Tel Aviv, in what one Israeli official described as a "terrorist attack".
After the incident, near military headquarters, huge blasts were heard in Gaza - an apparent Israeli strike on the football stadium.

A love triangle is the definitive reason for the explosion.

It is a gas explosion. Whether it was a love triangle or not it was another gas explosion. Natural gas is a weapon in many crimes of passion including children in the middle of a custody battle. We don't have to have these disasters in our lives. So, why continue it?

Indiana Neighborhood Explosion: Two Questioned in Connection to Blast (click here for video)

Nov. 21, 2012
...Police won't say who they are questioning, but cell phone video captured by Brad Horton and his girlfriend Whitney Essex shows a SWAT team descending on a mobile home park in southwest Indianapolis.
"These people came in tanks with people on top of them," Essex told ABC News.
The couple says their neighbor Bob Leonard was led away for questioning. Leonard is the brother of Mark Leonard, who is dating Montserrate Shirley, who along with Mark Leonard, lives in the home that exploded.
"It was pretty serious. They don't pull those [tanks] out for just anything," Horton said.
Much of the attention since the explosion has centered on Shirley and Leonard, who lived at the house in the center of the blast area. The two ignored questions from reporters on Tuesday.
The couple says they were at a casino, and the home was empty when the explosion rocked the quiet neighborhood, killing the Longworths and damaging nearly 100 homes....

Rubio doesn't know how old our planet is? Really? He is a Senator? Really?

The United States of America Geological Survey has it figured out and it is not breaking news.

What the electorate stated in 2012 is that we are not interested in iconic morons in the Executive Branch.

The ages of Earth (click here) and Moon rocks and of meteorites are measured by the decay of long-lived radioactive isotopes of elements that occur naturally in rocks and minerals and that decay with half lives of 700 million to more than 100 billion years to stable isotopes of other elements. These dating techniques, which are firmly grounded in physics and are known collectively as radiometric dating, are used to measure the last time that the rock being dated was either melted or disturbed sufficiently to rehomogenize its radioactive elements.

Ancient rocks exceeding 3.5 billion years in age are found on all of Earth's continents. The oldest rocks on Earth found so far are the Acasta Gneisses in northwestern Canada near Great Slave Lake (4.03 Ga) and the Isua Supracrustal rocks in West Greenland (3.7 to 3.8 Ga), but well-studied rocks nearly as old are also found in the Minnesota River Valley and northern Michigan (3.5-3.7 billion years), in Swaziland (3.4-3.5 billion years), and in Western Australia (3.4-3.6 billion years)....

Okay, so Rubio ADMITS he is not a scientist. He is not an MD, he is not a physicist, he is not a woman best we all know, he is not a laborer, he is not a Castro exile immigrant, he is no longer a Mormon since moving out of Las Vegas to Miami, so what! His excuse as a USA Senator for not knowing the USA government absolutely has proof of the age of Earth is that he is not a Scientist? People vote for this? Why? The man holds federal office and can't get out of his own way in knowing what the federal government already knows?

Everyone knows Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio has been a so called "Dream Team" for the Executive Branch. We all know that. So we all should be threatened and be preoccupied with this mess? They are out there looking for money. That is new for the GOP? They are always looking for money.

The age of the Earth is NOT a theory and if Rubio wants to be Veep to Jeb's Prez, then he needs to realize the nukes they'll hold near and dear to their heart has a scientific understanding of HALF LIFE. Now, if Rubio accepts the USA has nuclear weapons with materials with a half-life then the argument the age of Earth is a theory is OVER. It is very, very over. If he wants to pander politically to old, white guys, he might want to ask how many will kick the bucket by 2016.

Come 2016 Rubio will run for the Veep Stakes for the same reason Ryan did, to maintain the office he already holds.

“I’m not a scientist, man,” (click here) Rubio, a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, said. “I can tell you what recorded history says; I can tell you what the Bible says; but I think that’s a dispute amongst theologians, and I think it has nothing to do with the gross domestic product or economic growth of the United States.”

It just won't be freedom in the USA if children weren't toting guns to school.

Governor Chris Christie needs to declare his re-election bid.

There are still major infrastructure problems unaddressed after Sandy.

A 12-foot surge of water swamped the Newark sewage treatment plant that serves some 3 million people when Sandy struck. Brian Thompson reports.

Friday, Nov 16, 2012

By Brian Thompson
...Mike DeFrancisci,(click here) executive director of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, would only say "ASAP" when asked when repairs to the sprawling facility could be made.
Until then, the main outfall will continue dumping millions of gallons of partially treated human waste a day at a point close to the Statue of Liberty across from Manhattan.
"We've never had the facility flood like this," he said.
Pathogens in partially treated waste are a health hazard and public safety threat, officials said.
Fishing, crabbing and shellfishing bans in the New Jersey waters of the harbor will remain in effect, said Larry Ragonese, a Department of Environmental Protection spokesman....
This cannot go on forever without creating permanent damage. Truck the waste out of the sewage treatment plant. It is more expensive now, but, the long term view of the waters is an intact ecosystem. It is the only way to successfully stop it now and will allow the sewage treatment plant a chance to regain its capacity.

Sewage-contaminated water causes eutrophication, (click here) which is the increase in concentration of chemical elements required for life. The nitrates, phosphates, and organic matter found in human waste serves as a food for algae and bacteria. This causes these organisms to overpopulate to the point where they use up most of the dissolved oxygen that is naturally found in water, making it difficult for other organisms in this aquatic environment to live. The bacteria are basically strangling the other organisms. Some of the organisms that do overpopulate from this can also be disease-causing microorganisms. Phosphates are also found in soaps and detergents, but there are other household products that we use everyday that can be toxic to many animals and humans if they are dumped directly into a water body.

President Morsy has to succeed with the extremist militias of the Middle East.

The longer Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the rest, such as Hezbollah, remain uneducated to their own reality, the longer they will remain victims to violence and the influence of violence from nations like Iran.

The war is over if they want it to be and President Morsy has the deepest understanding of these groups and quite possibly the greatest influence among them.

There is a reason why decades of hostilities have sustained. It isn't as though these groups even know their own culture anymore. They have been lead for so long by hate their own cultures are lost to them. If the global community wants to examine the 'culture genocide' of Palestinians, they can start with the culture of hatred that has replaced any sense of a people.

The major aspects of the Palestine Society and Culture (click here) include the customs, religion, languages, literature, art, costumes and music of the land and its inhabitants. The culture of Palestine is still alive in the countries of Israel and Diaspora, although they are separate from the territory of Palestine.

In less than four years. Nothing short of one of the most historic diplomatic victories for the USA.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Obama, (click here) with Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, says ‘human freedom’ cannot be denied....

Both Nobel Peace Prize winners. Extraordinary. Peace works. Pure unadulterated joy.

Now, it is Palestine and Israel in need of such joy.

The Iron Dome works but has had failures.

Yesterday three of four of the Gaza missiles were stopped but one did get through. That is a success rate of 75%. That is exceptional.

If I remember correctly, this is what the USA calls The Patriot Missile System.

This is not a cheap defense of Israel. It is not a long term capacity which can be sustained financially.
..."No way I'd be sitting out here in the open if it weren't for Iron Dome," said Binyamin, 32, a truck driver. (click here)

He was referring to the Israeli air defense system. Iron Dome has shown about an 85% success rate in stopping rockets deemed to pose a threat to life or property during the last six days, Israeli officials say. The system is widely credited in Israel with having minimized casualties....

There has been a capacity of The Patriot Missile System never developed by the USA. Of should I say it was never purchased by the USA. It was the 'seek and destroy' aspect of this very sophisticated system. Basically, Raytheon had developed the capacity for Patriot to formulate the trajectory of the intercepted missile which it does anyway, but, retaliate on its own. In other words, it could find the launch site (launch vehicle is another question), and fire a missile back to destroy that site. A launch vehicle whereby it could be moved immediately after launching was the reason the USA didn't see any benefit to it.

The capacity of Hamas is often linked with mobile capacity, so it probably won't help.

The bottom line is the Iron Dome/Patriot System is a highly sophisticated system. It can probably be operated remotely and of course, it carries its own defense to destroy 'incoming.'

Being as sophisticated as it is, it is very expensive. This is not something Israel or the International Community should consider an answer to this problem.

By Glen Carey - Oct 31, 2010 9:12 AM ET
Raytheon Co., the world’s largest missile maker, plans to expand its Patriot air-defense system in the Persian Gulf as the world’s biggest oil-producing region strengthens its missile-defense, naval and air forces.
In Saudi Arabia, “we got an upgrade to the Patriot system that is in process,” Thomas Culligan, chief executive officer of Raytheon International Inc., told reporters late yesterday in Riyadh. “Hopefully, we will get a contract signed on that.”
Kuwait is upgrading and buying additional units, and Qatar “is looking at” the system, Culligan said. The United Arab Emirates bought a missile-defense system at a value not exceeding $3.3 billion at the end of 2008, according to a Raytheon statement on the company’s website....

The people are complicating their own circumstances with violence among themselves.

There is a report of a man being killed and dragged through the streets of Gaza as an Israeli spy. These are all false beliefs the people have. They don't understand their own circumstances. Israel does not need spies to achieve their own expertise. They have very sophisticated methods of detecting the presence of rockets and violent leaders. They have some of the most sophisticated military on the planet, they don't need Palestinians to be spies.

The Palestinians need Radio Free Palestine. They are completely alienated from their own reality.

Why does Hamas leadership equate a ceasefire with Israeli politics?

It is the second time I have heard it.

I think the first time was an article in an Israel newspaper and now again on CNN. Two different Hamas leaders are equating the end of the Israeli invasion with Israeli politics. Is there a core belief within Hamas that Israeli politics over shadow their own? Or is there is a belief politics in Gaza and Israel are directly related to violence? I find this thinking ill gotten and worrisome.

My worry is this: Does Hamas sincerely believe a stronger leader is based in aggression through killing and do they believe a leader in Israel is weaker because they are demanded by the people to not carry out violence?

It is a rudimentary understanding of what Hamas believes about the dynamics related to why they fire rockets and seek aggression rather than peace.

In different words, why does Hamas fire rockets daily? Do they believe it results in the lack of aggression by Israel? Do they believe there is a political end to the rockets over the border? I think there is a basic belief by Hamas very flawed in its etiology.

I sincerely believe Palestine has had very violent leadership, such as the deceased Sheikh, Ammad Yassin. Those leaders, by Islamic belief, become stronger in death than in life. We know the Hamas leadership is under appreciative of 'expertise' and separated from Fatah because of alienation of their lack of expertise.

Can President Morsi fill in the gap for Hamas and bring them up to speed to what sincere peace with Israel will result in? Can he change the basic belief system of Hamas toward violence and move them toward benevolence for their people and build they brain trust and quality of life for their people?

There is a very good chance, President Morsi already understands Hamas and why they fire rockets along with Islamic Jihad. He may have the expertise to answer such questions without asking Hamas or Islamic Jihad.

Will the Egyptian leadership deliver the Palestinian extremists to a peace initiative?

This could be a sincerely historic turning point for the Muslim Brotherhood. There are several layers of the extremism within the Palestinian populous. Islamic Jihad has been dedicated to opposing Israel's existence over any effort for the region to state otherwise.

An Israel Air Force (click here) strike on a high-rise building in Gaza City Monday killed Ramez Harb, a senior figure in Islamic Jihad's military wing, the Al Quds Brigades, the group said in a text message it sent to reporters.
The Israel Defense Forces said Harb was one of four Islamic Jihad militants who were injured in the attack, but did not confirm his death. Harb and two other militants in the building, which also houses several foreign and local news organizations and which was also struck on Sunday, were involved in launching long-range missiles at Israel, the IDF said.
Islamic Jihad said it believed Harb was the intended target of the strike.
Other Jihad operatives who were apparently injured in the air strike were Baha Abu al-Alta and Tayasir Jabari, both of whom belong to the organization's supreme military council, and Khalil Bahatini....

President Morsi may be able to bring about a sincere change within the Palestinian militia movement which has lasted for decades.

It is well known the Muslim Brotherhood was the caldron which resulted in a new President of Egypt stating he represents all Egyptian. If President Morsi has sincere influence with the extremist militias he will be a pivotal negotiator for a peaceful Middle East. The question is will President Morsi be able to temper the demands for outrageous prisoner exchanges with the West which will never be considered a viable solution, but, only further sabotage of peace.

This can be a pivotal event, if Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad enter into a sustainable cease fire which is measurable and enforceable.

Hamas is the most populous of the Palestinian extremist organizations, but, there are others such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad that have to agree, as well, to a ceasefire leading to a sustainable peaceful.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad had its roots within the Muslim Brotherhood. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad spun off the Muslim Brotherhood when a militia group determined the Brotherhood was not a genocidal organization.

Senator McCain is not getting into the spirit of the new administration

President Calvin Coolidge dons an Indian headdress to be made an honorary chief.

The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs is a nice place to be. As a matter of fact Senator McCain's past stance on Global Warming will elevate his standing with most of the Indian Nations.

He also fought corruption over the Indian Nation's exploitation during the Abramoff Affair.

There is a real drought out there, Senator. There is nothing more important than getting in up to your elbows in dedication to purpose, Senator.

Gov. Mary Fallin (click here) on Monday rejected state participation in a health care exchange and expansion of the state’s Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act.

The decision means Oklahoma will not do anything to accommodate the controversial federal health care law — known as “Obamacare” — but it also means the state will skip an opportunity to help some 693,000 uninsured Oklahomans, 18.7 percent of the state population, get coverage through the federal government.

“After careful consideration, I have today informed U.S. Secretary of Health Kathleen Sebelius that Oklahoma will not pursue the creation of its own health insurance exchange,” Fallin said. “Furthermore, I have also decided that Oklahoma will not be participating in the Obama Administration’s proposed expansion of Medicaid.”...

Below is a report from the Oklahoma Poverty Institute. Either Fallin does care or she is completely ignorate of the needs of her own people. There is no in between.

Oklahoma ranks 44th in the nation with a rate of 15.6% with the least impoverished in New Hampshire at 5.6%. These statistics was when the USA national poverty rate was only 12.6%.

The Oklahoma poverty rate is over 543,000 people.

Median household income (click here) and the poverty rate in Oklahoma and Tulsa County remained basically unchanged in 2011 compared to the prior year, according to new census data.

The data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey also shows state unemployment declined from 2010 to 2011, while income inequality increased during the same period in Oklahoma. The American Community Survey is an ongoing poll conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.

“The fact that poverty basically stayed the same even though the overall economy is improving shows that we are looking at a very uneven recovery,” said Gene Perry, policy analyst for the Oklahoma Policy Institute, a Tulsa-based think tank.

“What that shows is we are seeing a good economy for some, but there are a whole lot of other people who are being left out,” Perry said.

While overall poverty numbers were stable in the state, improvements were noted in some areas from 2010 to 2011.

The poverty rate for married couples with related children under 18 in Tulsa County declined from 6 percent in 2010 to 4.3 percent in 2011, according to the census data.

The state poverty rate among households headed by females with children under 18 declined from 45.5 percent in 2010 to 43.9 percent in 2011.

The number of teen girls giving birth in Oklahoma in 2008 (click here)was more than double the number of female freshmen entering the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University that fall semester, according to a recent data analysis.

Oklahoma's teen birth rates rose between 2005 and 2007, moving up a notch to the fifth highest in the country, according to the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

The nonprofit organization has been analyzing data released by the National Vital Statistics earlier this year to break down and compare rates and numbers to other states, said Sharon Rodine, director of youth initiatives for the group.

"This is 100 percent preventable," Rodine said. "Oklahoma is not doing much at all to address teen pregnancy in any area. Other states are getting there, especially in Southern states. This is not a race we want to win."

The largest increase is among Oklahoma's 18- to 19-year-olds, which jumped from the sixth-highest pregnancy rate for that age group to second, behind Mississippi....

Highlights: (click here)
Of the total teen childbearing costs in Oklahoma in 2008,
48% were federal costs and 52% were state and local costs.
• Most of the public sector costs of teen childbearing are
associated with negative consequences for the children of
teen mothers, during both their childhood and their young
adult years.  In Oklahoma in 2008, taxpayer costs associated
with children born to teen mothers included: $36 million for
public health care (Medicaid and CHIP); $27 million for child
welfare; and, for children who have reached adolescence or
young adulthood, $29 million for increased rates of incarceration and $56 million in lost tax revenue due to decreased
earnings and spending.

More than half of Oklahoma's uninsured poor people (click here) would be covered by a Medicaid expansion that is part of the Affordable Care Act within five years, according to a 2010 Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured report.

With some effort, the expansion could cover nearly three-quarters of uninsured poor Oklahomans, the report says.

Oklahoma Health Care Authority figures show that some 624,480 Oklahomans - about 17 percent of the population - don't have health insurance.

A high uninsured population doesn't just hurt the people who don't have insurance, said OU-Tulsa President Gerard Clancy, a physician and a leading voice in state health policy discussions.

"The uninsured sooner or later are going to need to access care anyhow," Clancy said.

If they don't have insurance, they will delay care until their illness drives them to an emergency room, where they have to be served, he said....

Schnatter, a part-time Naples resident, made the comments Wednesday night inside a small auditorium at Edison State College's Collier County campus. In August, he made national headlines after telling shareholders the Affordable Care Act — commonly known as Obamacare — would result in a 10- to 14-cent increase for customers buying a pizza....
