Ariz. collision a first for TV choppers

Two news helicopters fall after colliding in midair while covering a police pursuit in central Phoenix, Friday, July 27, 2007, killing everyone on both aircraft, police said. Both helicopters were from local television stations. KNXV-TV Channel 15 reported that one of the choppers belonged to its station. The other chopper was from KTVK Channel 3 in Phoenix. I am confident after this tragedy, media services will now be sharing responsibilities and 'audio/visual feed' in coverage areas with shared common interests. There is no need for this level of competition in any business venture in the USA.
I can't believe this 'risk' even existed. The word was 'existed.'
Are conservative states so disinterested in public well being the skies are a place of 'free will?' This is outrageous to realize there was absolutely no government control over the number of vehicles in the air. This silliness needs to stop with restrictive access to air space while 'feeds' are equitably provided to all services in cooperation without time lags. If each media service is allowed 'scheduled time in the air' daily or every other day or weekly depending on how many actually keep helicopters they will all have an income from shared interests when it's their equipment supplying 'the feed' for the day.
No more of this level of pressure to get the story. The public isn't THAT interested in 'breaking news.' I realize there is pressure needed to stop high speed police chases and more of a need today than any other time to be sure police are doing their jobs well, but, this isn't the way. Video footage is important when it is done well and the public isn't witness to funerals. Just stop being so aggressive in acquistion of the news. We don't want it this way. Government needs to protect people from themselves and that doesn't happen in Red States the way it should.
