October 5, 2005. Cameron, Louisiana. More Cat 5 damage as also noted in the background is a completely grounded ship. A huge ship. Literally what happens with these 'boat displacement' events is that they are sitting in the water and the rush of tidal surge comes up the waterway where they are located. The elevation of the water they are sitting is goes up similar to a 'canal lock' and raises them. The ships/boats then are carried into the splash zone of that tidal surge coming to rest on land rather than water intact with normally minimal damage. If the boats/ships come to rest in areas that cause damage it is rarely the water that has damaged or it's force.  Posted by Picasa
