A while back another country practically declared war on loggers.

Now I realize this is a 'crack down' on illegal logging but in the USA the logging industry has gone where it was never allowed before Bush that a fair amount of it could be considered illegal according to old standards. I bring this up naturally because logging can cause erosion and flooding.

MANILA, Manila Metropolitan Area, Philippines -- PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered a renewed crackdown on illegal logging on Wednesday after a series of flashfloods and landslides spawned by a tropical storm left hundreds dead or missing.

And if all that wasn't traumatizing enough to the Phillipines look at what the oil companies were doing to the Phillipine Government. Not just the environment but the actual struture of government. This type of aggression by a company with set intentions regardless of the rules shows a willingness within the industry to challenge sovereignty to get their 'cash crop' out of the ground. The extreme example of this is Iraq of course.
