This is a surreal picture from Colby, Kansas on May 23, 2005. The clarity of the foreground tree yet the sky is so oddly obscure in clarity. This is the edge of the ionic system that transferred electric charges without rain from the higher altitudes to the ground seeking equilibrium to this climate system. Rain frequently carries with it carbon dioxide to the ground which is absorbed by Earth. However, there was a study approximately two years ago published from Duke University that discovered Earth was already saturated with carbon dioxide in it's soils. As a result the 'reservoir' that is normally available for higher tropospheric carbon dioxide levels to be absorbed is no longer, hence, the vortex manifestation of October 4, 2002.
