April 13, 2005. April in the Arizona Desert. SNOW. Those are not white sands. The higher mountain rock in the background is covered as well. The rocks in the picture projecting out of the ground are very old rock. The exhibit geologic 'Original Horizontality' and are probably a sandstone that hasn't been eroded over time into desert sand. The original horizontality is the way this area once was with rising and receding seas over top of the land. In Eons past North America was very different. There is a good chance some of those layers contain marine fossils. Imagine that, marine fossils where there is now desert. This snow is ridiculous. It is a bizarre picture. Posted by Hello
