She writes back to the shipping company:
I did not know what he was shipping. I do not have that kind of money. He was sending money to me to assist with his daughter (name) in a hospital in Turkey. But, he also said it was a Valentines Day gift for the wedding. He currently is injured and is convalescing at a home.
Since my name is included in this small mess, kindly use whatever cash was there and pay the cost of whatever is yo be paid.
I am sorry about this. Wilfred should not have been so secretive. I don’t think it was intentional. Kindly proceed with the cost and complete delivery.
Thank you,
Victim's name
A copy of that email makes it to Wilfred and he scoulds the victim that she knew full well what was in the box. In other words, not that the authorities know what is in the box, she is as guilty as he is, so she better shape up and cover for him.
It isn't as though she didn't know what was in the box, but, she was stuck in the middle and wasn't aware of the shipment at all until it was sent. Twice if considering the change in carriers/couriers.
It is amazing how needy these people are and the victim is the only one that can "carry on" to besure it all happens right. Romeo is injured. His daughter is in the hospital. The only one without some kind of infirmity is the victim. It could be argued at this point the victim's infirmity is her naive nature as to this being a fraud.
This is the next email from the company:
We haven't receive any information from you regarding clearance of the assigned package shipment to you.
Tomorrow night, Wednesday 16th of February 2022, will be the last day to apply for the clearance of your package by paying the duty fees, failure to do as mentioned above will totally terminate your name and your package details from our database and you will be ban from shipping with us worldwide.
Your Sincerely

Confounded by the entier mess this is the reply to the content above:
To whom it may concern,
I don't have the money to pay the $4400 the Dubai security people are
asking. They will have to take it out of the monies in the boxes.
(the sender) is an orthopedic surgeon and was in Somali to work
with the UN Mission. They are closing the mission. He was injured at
the airport where you picked up the boxes. I don't know how he was
injured and except for the email, have no idea where he is and now he
is saying this left leg is starting to bleed atain. I don't know what
that means, but, it doesn't sound like a broken leg so much as an
injury that is open and he is trying to heal. He is not much more than
a tourist. He is not an international criminal. People need to take
pity on his circumstances and provide relief so the rest of the
shipment (after removing $4400) can complete the route to me. That
box, evidently, is the best hope I have of bringing his daughter (name)
here to me in the US. Anything that can be done to resolve this in
Wilfred's favor will be appreciated. I don't know what else to do.
Thank you,
The victim
Below is the reply from the company:
Your email is well received. It is illegal and criminal offense for any courier company, customs or police officer to open a customer package and remove/deduct cash or any other item's, it is a serious crime.
We can provide you details to pay the penalty fees in the USA that is the best we can do. We also haven't get any respond from Mr. Wilfred (last name) so far today. He only sent a message that those items are valentine surprised for his fiancée and not a stolen items.
It's very important you pay the duty penalty fees within the next 4 working days else the items will be confiscated.
Your Sincerely

The entire episode is about money that is going to make the victim's life easier until the tables are turned and in order for her to stay out of trouble she has to pay the $4400.00 USD. The pressure to perform is really extreme. Here a woman that doesn't even travel is burdened by a perfect stranger really and short of being a lawyer and knowing what to do with this disaster of an episode, she relies further on a shipping company's personnel that she has no knowledge of, but, they seem to know more than she.
