These are vulnerable Americans attending to their lives. They are not free to do so without tragedy facing them.

San Diego police have detained a man in connection with a possible shooting incident at the Chabad of Poway synagogue.

I don't see how places of worship can allow free access to the sanctuary. Something needs to be done. Speaker Pelosi should consider placing these Americans within the embrace of Homeland Security and provide monies for a national initiative to secure the building where people gather.

It isn't about religion. It is about the safety of Americans.

October 27, 2018 is when the Pittsburgh shooting occurred at the Tree of Life synagogue.

What gets me upset about this is the congregation is a reflection of the community. To my way of thinking, this isn't about religion, it is about securing the community. Every community has a right to be safe, including schools. It seems to me these vulnerable places need to be addressed by the federal government.

It is difficult for communities to write laws to enforce safety standards because those standards can be expensive. So, the safety goes unaddressed. It isn't right. Churches and schools are where vulnerable Americans gather. We need to create an initiative to secure them in a meaningful way.

Churches, mosques, synagogues and places of worship are where families and the elderly gather. Schools are where young people and children are required to attend to their vital education. We are losing them. The AFTER SHOCK of these events are causing PTSD and deep depression leading to even greater loss. We cannot ignore this anymore. When it comes to schools, we are losing our brain trust and it is a national tragedy. The numbers effected are far greater than any study has reported.

Death and maiming is a permanent loss to the families. American families should not be faced with such shocking and disruptive losses.
