Sarah Juliet Lauro (click here) is an English professor
at Clemson University who specializes in not Dickens or some other
classic subject, but in zombies. We spoke with her about symbolism,
embodiment, and the undead wisdom of her hairdresser.
People are really scared of me.
They know I study zombies so they expect this kind of Goth person,
someone who's into horror and slasher films but nothing can be further
from the truth. I hate horror movies. I'm skittish around violence.
Having to watch every zombie movie ever was a labor.
