A U.S. Marine Harrier jet (click here) crashed into a residential area in Southern California on Wednesday afternoon. The Associated Press reports the pilot was able to eject safely and no one was injured. The explosive crash of the Harrier AV-8B jet happened in Imperial, Calif., close to the U.S.-Mexico border at 4:20 p.m., resulting in the destruction of two homes.
According to KGUN9, Daniel Urias, a high-school sophomore, was one of the first on the scene. Below you can see a video he took on his cellphone moments after the crash....
What was it carrying? These jets carry some of the most lethal armaments in use today. When these jets crash, it isn't just a jet crashing, it is bombs crashing. It is amazing no one was injured or worse.It happened at 4 o'clock in the afternoon before families were home for the day.
