It is the decline of union memberships in the USA. The red line are unions, the blue line is the decline of Middle Class Share of Income.
This graph has been discussed for some time now. Probably ever since the Occupy Wall Street movement and the phrase, "income inequality" was coined.
What Americans often don't recognize is the inch by inch loss of dignity and identity. Slowly but surely over the past 45 years the American people have been lied to and deceived to relinquish their national identity and the dignity of their worth. Along with the degradation of their 'income share' they have also lost holiday time and a reverence for 'family holiday.'
