The composition of the Sun is not very different than that of Earth.

What I mean by that statement is not that Earth is a fireball, but, containing the same elements as the Sun. Earth actually has more elements on its table of elements than the Sun.

The physical composition of the Sun is the picture in this entry. It has a core the same as Earth, a radiation zone that could easily be the outer core of Earth, the convection which is placed where the lower mantle exists, the chromosphere which can be considered the upper mantle of Earth and the photosphere where the crust of Earth would exist.

The table of elements (click title to entry - thank you) was constructed from analysis of the solar spectrum, which comes from the photosphere and chromosphere of the Sun. But it is thought to be representative of the entire Sun with the exception of the solar core because of the degree of mixing which takes place between the layers of the Sun's interior.

About 67 elements have been detected in the solar spectrum.
