...The fire broke out just hours after staff at the U.S. base had met to review fire safety, New Zealand's Christchurch Press newspaper reported Thursday. Temperatures at the bases were down to minus 17 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 27 degrees Celsius) by mid-afternoon Thursday.
