The Evil United States of America

The letter was addressed to Major General Barbara Fast, commander of Fort Huachuca, who has served as the head of all military intelligence in Iraq during the atrocities of the notorious US-administered Abu Ghraib prison.

From "The Jordan Times," an ally.

...“The US authorities have described Camp 6 as a ‘state of the art modern facility’ which is safer for guards and ‘more comfortable’ for the detainees. However, Amnesty International believes that the conditions, as shown in photographs and described by detainees and their attorneys, contravene international standards of humane treatment.
In some respects, they appear more severe than the most restrictive levels of ‘super-maximum’ custody on the US mainland, which have been criticised by international bodies as incompatible with human rights treaties and standards.”
One thing is definitely clear. As far as the security agencies are concerned, such people deserve to be treated only as terrorists and they don’t even have the right to protest against such treatment.
What is sadder is that it is happening at the hands of the US, the leader of the free world. Many in the world still look up to the US with respect and admiration, but are not sure anymore how far it remains committed to its own founding principles.
