This is the current 'system' of 'Wilma.'

It is feed by the vortex flows off Africa as an inflow as well as additional convection centers across the Atlantic and then as an outlfow to the Arctic Ocean vortex.

These storms 'hug' terra firma and why?

Why?

Because they seek to pull heat to the oceans to cool the troposphere. The land of the continents and islands are hotter than the oceans.

Very early on in 2002 when there were only two tropospheric vortexes, one in the North Atlantic and one in the North Pacific they ALWAYS sought a 'center' over land even if it were a small island in the Aleutian Islands.

The current storm of the Caribbean is 'hugging' the Yucatan because that is THE NATURE of these 'eddies/storms.'
