And what do we know about WHEN mudslide occur? After drought. Why? Because there has been die off of biota as well as wildfires and there is nothing holding the soil in place, hence, mudslides with the first rain. Biota incluiding long standing tree stands are very important. Reseeding of the soil HAS to take place as the fire passes over biota it has destroyed IF the wildfire cannot be contained.
