July 2, 2005. Soldotna, Alaska. How do you fight a fire in the Alaska wilderness? Well, when you can't use a four wheel drive, four wheelers or airplanes, you use a converted Snow-Cat. This piece of fire equipment is housed at the state forestry fire cache in Soldotna, Alaska.
The nearby King County Creek forest fire has brought in nearly 250 firefighters from the U.S. as well as Canada.
We, some of the local residents, appreciate the hard work and efforts of everyone involved. Wildland firefighting is all too often a thankless job, and so our heartfelt thanks go out to all the men and women in our midst!
