Inclusion of children is the best the BSA can do?

The Boy Scouts of America (click here) has decided to allow openly gay Scouts to join the organization but not gay Scout leaders. Sixty-one percent of the National Council who cast ballots supported the controversial proposal.

I suppose it is a church thing. There is still hope for the young gay, but, forbid adult gays as a role model. Or is it the BSA actually believes all adult gays lust after young gay boys? I mean which is it? I find the new BSA policy ludicrous.

If I had a gay son I would never trust BSA one day with his mind or heart. See, as a young scout he is acceptable and even sought after, but, as an adult he really sucks.

Why start the ball rolling and then cast him to the street in front of the church?

The Boy Scouts of America failed AGAIN.

Gitmo is the Republican Problem. It is not about populism. It is about Human Rights.

The President or the Democratic Party does not own this problem. It should be made evident to the electorate in any election in 2014. 5 April 2013 Desperate Act (click here) "The continuing indefinite incarceration of many of the detainees amounts to arbitrary detention and is in clear breach of international law," Ms Pillay said in a statement on Friday.
"It severely undermines the United States' stance that it is an upholder of human rights.
"When other countries breach these standards, the US - quite rightly - strongly criticises them for it," she added.
Ms Pillay also said a continuing hunger strike among the inmates was a "desperate act" - but it was "scarcely surprising".
Human rights groups and lawyers representing the prisoners say the strike reflects growing frustration at the US military's failure to decide their future.
Many of those who have been cleared for transfer remain at the facility at the US naval base in Cuba because of Congressional restrictions and also concerns of possible mistreatment if they are sent back to their home countries....

Rep. Moran might wonder as some protesters do as well as to why President Obama hasn't carried out Executive power before now.

I believe it was his first inauguration when he stated he was the President of all the nation, not just a part of the nation. For his first four years President Obama has tried beyond any reasonable tolerance to work with the entire country. He tried in every way he knew to bring the people together.

As President he did not find Executive Branch power his obsession. He knew his job. He knew his responsibility. He also knew his nation and the path it was on and how terrible things could happen within the USA if he carried out his powers too soon and in strong and irreverent methods.

President Obama worked with Congress, not against Congress. His first two years were incredible and gave us some of the most sweeping health care reformation this country has ever witnessed. His most pressing problem was an American economy imploding and taking the global Western economy with it. There was much to be done and much was done. The US House Speaker Pelosi lead record number legislation and the Senate found enough cooperation to make the House matter.

If President Obama did not run for office again after the disastrous elections of 2010 no one would blame him, but, he persisted and the much needed change in path for the nation would be his focus until his re-election.

Since his re-election he has learned he is a man alone in the Executive Branch as the Senate can't even find the focus to confirm his nominees. Barak Obama had to come to his own conclusion about the respect his Presidency would receive and when he would depart from Congressional abuse of him and the nation and take the path he was entrusted with.

Now, the Affordable Care Act is finally becoming reality and Democratic House Representatives remain under siege and can't find cooperation to move the country in the direction it demands. Today, President Obama made a speech to confirm the path forward. He finally came to terms with sincere hatred by the opposition party that could not care less about the people of this country, so much as their allegiance to their cronies. He found out the rhetoric about Right Wing Nuts is not rhetoric but the truth, now validated.

President Obama can lead this country forward and he will. The remnants of what he can't resolve because of Congress unable to function under political Right Wing dogma will be the shame of the nation. When the country moves forward in a way that save those areas within it's borders from gerrymandering and prejudiced values then the USA will finally have it's complete dignity back.

I look forward to the next four years. The USA will begin to rebuild it's dignity and maybe when the country finds that dignity is important again it will matter in elections as well.

...The hunger strike has renewed (click here) focus on the detention facility, with President Obama calling for its closure in April. At Friday’s hearing, Rep. James Moran of Virginia, military personnel, and attorneys representing Guantanamo Bay prisoners all called for the transfer of the 86 cleared men as well as the closure of the facility.  “It should never have come into existence,” said Moran in his opening remarks.
Moran, a Democrat, called on President Obama to use his executive authority to begin the process of closing the detention center. He also admitted Congress’ role in derailing the president’s earlier efforts: “Now, yes, Congress has constrained the president’s options for closing this detention facility, but President Obama still retains the authority to do so should he wish to choose to fully exercise his existing power and authority.  He does have the authority to do so.”...
The War is Over.

President Obama accepts the reality majority of Americans have stated for a long time now. He accepts the fact that war begets war and the lands we occupied are not ours to do so.

The USA has acted to provide Third World countries where international criminals such as Osama bin Laden have taken refuge with the ability to secure their own borders. Whether that will result is not for us to carry out any longer. It can be stated it was never our place to do so, but, with so many Americans dead and causalities innumerable in so many ways, that point is mute.

Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda dreamscape was not the product of Afghanistan, yet the people of that nation was burdened with his criminal intent and content as their own. The Taliban was a creation in the region of Pakistan and Afghanistan, it has no ethnic basis, it is a power base, hence al Qaeda, The Base. The Taliban was not the creation of the USA or NATO, but it is there just the same. The prevalence of the influence of the Taliban is so wide ranging they have literally infiltrated these countries with their own form of subversive governing authority. So long as the USA and NATO are an enemy the Taliban has a reason to exist and carry out oppression of these peoples.

The longer we provide wars as an answer to the attacks of international criminals the more there will be wars. The USA cannot morally conduct such atrocities or afford to do so while depriving an entire generation of Americans their generational promise.

Today is a great day.

The Forever War is No More.

Europe has a different relationship with their Muslim communities.

Europe seeks to actively remove oppression from women. They openly reject Sharia Law and demand headscarves and burkas to be removed, especially with children in schools. It could be viewed as a security issue in that children could be used to carry weapons under their clothing into school.

Sharia Law is the most conservative Muslim culture and frequently the choice of extremists. There are other cultures within the Muslim faith that blends better in The West where many faiths live together in peace.

Europe will have somewhat more angry people in Muslim conservative communities while banning aspects of the extreme conservative religious practices. I am sorry this is yet another time when Europe suffers an attack on good and decent people. Sincerest sympathies to the victim's family and friends. The geography of Great Britain is far smaller than the USA and these tragedies are more widely felt by the people of that country.
The Democrats that are going to be replacing these corrupt politicians need to be among the people today with their own non-profits to bring sincere purpose and dedication to the people they seek to serve. The DNC needs to appreciate the importance of the people now considered disposable by Republicans and push those able to win to start the campaigns now.

The USA Acting Director of the EPA needs to provide regulation for greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane. There are now more deaths of precious Americans to justify the use of The Clean Air Act. There is testimony that can be found on a website for "Earth Rescue" (click here)  made to The New Source Review in verbal testimony in April and written testimony in May of 2003 and eight and a half years of entries on this blog to support such regulations. There are many Americans concerned about the large emissions of these gases to the troposphere and I am only one as a representative sample.

There is additional scientific research to support such regulation. It will be posted here eventually. Congress is intractably deadlocked in political obstruction, but, there is nothing preventing effective regulation.

I demand it in the names of those dead in Moore, Oklahoma, the other death in Texas in the four days of tornadoes, the dead in France due to a historic heat wave, those dead in Russia due to fires, those dead in Australia due to wildfires and those dead in Africa due to intractable drought.

The USA is responsible for initiating huge amounts of greenhouse gas emissions which started the biotic degradation of Earth and those emissions continue still today.

Senator Coburn cherry picks his statistics and makes Senator Whitehouse' point.

Senators Inhofe, Coburn and McConnell are the problem and not the solution.

If Senator Coburn thinks he can stand in contempt of those that know differently about four consecutive days of EF3 or higher tornadoes by taking the country hostage and stating to the nation, "It is my way or the highway." Then there is the highway. Coburn is welcome to lead his own restoration of Oklahoma and build his own 501(c)4 to assist.

The fact of the matter is there is proof and research to back up what Senator Whitehouse is stating from a scientific background. I'll be posting it here eventually.

Senators Inhofe and Coburn are bought and paid for by the petroleum industry like the former Romney Energy Advisor Howard Hamm. It is amazing to watch Senators Inhofe and Coburn selectively lie to constituents and Americans alike. Corrupt to the bone.

Ten children dead, two infants, one toddler and these Senators don't give a damn! Not one damn about the lives of those people! They throw the truth away like an old shoe. They are corrupt and disdain the people that die and defy their memory to change their political power wagon.

They are all despicable men and don't ask me what they are doing in the USA Senate. Criminals all.

Well done, Google. The USA needs more of these reunions without redeployment.

Drones started the Vietnam War, this is nothing new.

The military, Air Force I suppose, used to call it "The Big Orange."

It is new to average Americans. The large aircraft is a DC-130H. The small aircraft is a unmanned spy drone.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 that started the Vietnam War was as a worry to the USA because "Big Orange" crashed in China and the Chinese published pictures of the downed aircraft. Oops.

It was orange so it could be validated in flight as well as radar. There is very little color orange in any horizon when flying an aircraft.

The USA military has been using unmanned drone aircraft as spy planes since the 1950s. It was the same time when the USA military developed the internet. The problem today is that now they are armed with munitions.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident was a spy mission gone wrong and gave LBJ 'the reason' he needed to declare a war that should never have occurred.

So, oops, four Americans are dead by a USA unmanned armed drone because they were in a war threater. How many Americans that sought jihad in Pakistan, Afghanistan and otherwise are dead because of bullets and bombs today? It just seems as though no one actually knows that number.

The current complaints about the USA drone program is that the local sheriff has the capacity to use them now and they are known to kill Americans in foreign lands. So, will an American in the USA be killed by drones on their own soil? Oops.

The Vietnam War killed over 50,000 Americans and estimated to have killed over one million Vietnamese. Today the Culture of Fear for 'self' sparks all kinds of issues for Americans. It is a lot of fun for those that benefit from the Culture of Fear. There is always an issue that can spark hatred of government and benefit Republicans.

You know what I wonder? I am sure no one really cares. Why didn't the Associated  Press report on Big Orange before the invasion into Vietnam happened? I suppose it was classified. But, hey the Press always does what is best for Americans and war was best.

So, now, the Obama Administration is admitting four Americans in a war zone died in what is basically enemy territory by drone strike. What are the chances of that, huh?

When the Press whips up the fear and anger with their government this time, they should tell them how many American and NATO soldiers Kenan killed, too. It wasn't as though he was innocent, now is it?

Considering the picture it is obvious whom was his hero and considering he was probably bringing guns from the USA to Pakistan, I would say his American Freedom served him well. The thing is this, was he radicalized in Raleigh or Pakistan? I think the that is obvious. Does he have a family that actually cares about him? I think not.

The title should read, "Four Radicalized Americans Killed by American Drones, Right or Wrong?"

WASHINGTON — When Jude Kenan Mohammad (click here) was about 18 and living in Raleigh, N.C., according to people who knew him, he came under the influence of an older man, Daniel Patrick Boyd, who taught him a violent, radical version of Islam....

In all honesty though, if Americans are in their personal civil rights bubble while carrying out war against their nation they become more powerful facilitated by laws that are awaiting their trial. If Americans can be denied their Miranda Rights in the USA and detained, what is the difference?

Considering this is a military operation now and not a civil operation, to make it moral and 'military legal' there needs to be a court martial or court hearing in abstentia. I suppose it is like a bad marriage, the results of the trial can be published in all the pertinent newspapers. It would give the American public a way of knowing if there are mistakes made. It is an American civilian after all and the USA military should not be operating against their own people. There needs to be a legal military mandate for the operation when it involved Americans.

The entire operation under the CIA was completely "W"rong. It provided Black Sites for torture that resulted in faux information. That information, good or bad, could then immediately be used to target a person for 'death by drone.' There was no command structure, no fitting in to the overall military operation and absolutely no respect for human life no matter the citizenship. The CIA program was wrong when it comes to armed drones. Hopefully, the military will do better with it.

Mayor Lewis, we spend a heck of a lot more on oil subsidies. I think it is more than manageable.

Moore, Okla. (AP) - The mayor of the Oklahoma City (click here) suburb battered by a monstrous tornado says he is pushing to require safe-rooms shelters in all new homes.

Glen Lewis said Wednesday he will propose an ordinance in the next couple of days at the Moore City Council that would modify building codes to require the construction of reinforced shelters in every new home in the town of 56,000.

The suburb was also hit by a massive tornado in 1999 that followed nearly the same path as the storm Monday that killed at least 24 people.

Lewis says he is confident he'll get the four votes needed on the six-member council. The measure could be in force within months.

Underground safe rooms are typically built below garages and can cost around $4,000....

Congratulations.

If I believed Congressional hubris was seeking to ruin my name and livelihood for the purpose of their political aspirations, I would have claimed "The Fifth" and not have bothered to share a speech with them.

Just in case Congress doesn't "Get it." A witness is usually given immunity not insults to testify beyond her rights otherwise.

...Lois Lerner, (click here) who heads the IRS tax-exempt unit, angered lawmakers by reading a statement before refusing to testify, but she was dismissed from the hearing with a warning that she could be called back for another appearance before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee....

I do believe Ms. Lerner has important work to do. The IRS still needs leadership and corrective policies to be sure our political system is not destroyed by large amounts of monies with donors hidden from the electorate. I wish her well.

If I may. One other 'thing' about gang like killings.

A gangland style killing is never a matter of regret. The men carrying out the killing believe their reasons are far more noble than the lives they take. It was common at the time of mafias to have strong religious belief as a part of the culture.

There is no mystery here. This is exported Russian violence, but, not by Russia.

I am sorry to hear he is dead. My sympathies to his family and friends.

All to often, young men this age in Chechnya are involved in anti-government movements. Some of those movements are actually inspired against Russia by Western promises of democracy and if a people decides they too can have streets lined with gold.

Russia has actually become good at capitalism, however, it does not go hand and hand with democracy in the way it is defined in the USA. Russia is a communist nation, proudly so and organized around elections in recent times. I don't think it is necessary to play the silly game of what government style is better, the USA or Russia or China, it serves no purpose. But, that sort of stuff goes on in countries where disruption and violence serves the purposes of Neocons. Neocons within the US government, such as Bushies.

But, to dive into a hideous discussion is irrelevant, this is exported violence. I find it interesting marijuana was involved in the murder in 2011. Often 'gangs,' especially those out of Mexico and/or organized within the cities of this country use drug economies. It is nothing new in the USA. Crime networks have used drug economies since the time of Al Capone.

The young men in these events found their identity in violence, guns, bombs and anti-government propaganda. They decided somewhere along the line using marijuana as an income would be better than being unemployed and disenfranchised. Whatever occurred in 2011 was a gangland type assassination. That is how racketeering lives among common Americans, it doesn't touch the lives of most citizens, the murders are often between competing gangs. "The Godfather" if you will. It happens to be true.

If I am correct about this and I believe I am, the Boston bombing was simply the next step for the egos involved. The brothers didn't expect to be caught, so displaying their power and abilities is sort of parallel play with other gangs to prove their prowess and ability. I sincerely believe this is a gang issue. There are just too many young men of the same ethnicity finding each other through social networks. They identify with their ethnicity rather than being an  American.

This has nothing to do with immigration, Russia, Mexico or any other country. There are gangs in Chinatown that have nothing to do with China, but, carry as their 'mantle' Chinese culture. This entire mess now coming to the surface is about money and power in a very old fashioned style crime network. It has nothing to do with Chechnya or Russia or any other nation. It is a group of young men of the same or similar ethnicity finding the freedom of the USA a real pleasure and easy to use as their lives did not work for them in the ways we provide.

I don't think of Boston as a place where gangs organize and develop 'no go zones.' That is something left to South Central LA. But, it seems to me this is all to obvious. There are young men unsuccessful and decided a gang carrying out violence and drug sales a viable way to make a living.

(Reuters) - A Chechen immigrant (click here) who was being questioned about his possible links to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was shot and killed by a federal agent in Florida on Wednesday after he suddenly turned violent, the FBI said.

A friend of the dead man identified him to Reuters as 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev, who had previously lived in Boston and knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the older of the two brothers suspected of planting two bombs at the marathon on April 15, killing three people and injuring 264.

NBC News reported that Todashev had confessed to his involvement in an unsolved 2011 triple homicide in a Boston suburb that investigators believe was drug related, citing law enforcement officials....

Three quarters of the States. 38 states. That is what a Constitutional Convention would require.

When the US Constitution was written there were 13 states. That would mean 10 of the states would have to call for a Constitutional Convention. The dynamics were different then. Capitalism was more marginally important and citizens were more subsistence.

Vermont is correct, it is sincerely time to look at the corruption within our federal government only committed to politics and determine whether a Constitutional Convention is necessary. I think it is time. Could mean that more, but, with such drastic changes possible the approach has to be careful to say the least.

My first instinct tells me working out through elections, the courts and other methods of citizen resolve would be best, but, considering how dependent our democracy has become on a few wealthy citizens and the threat of our dreams taken away as with housing, it would seem more than logical to approach this option given to us so very long ago.

The truth is the Red States basically out number the Blue States. However, the Red States are dependent on the Blue States. That is leverage. It is leverage enough for the Blue States to make the Red States understand if they rock the boat too much it would disturb their ability to be donor states. So, while the Blue States are out numbered and there is only 38 states needed for a Constitutional Convention, the Blue States have a lot of clout they could bring to the proceedings and process.

It is possible to cleanse the country of the corruption and address it's problems with minimal risk if it is done well.

The Congress, (click here) whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

Why do people flock to the Midwest?

It is not their fault. To begin, people have to live somewhere. The Midwest is a good as any place else.

Kindly get this right. This entire tropospheric occurrence SHOULD BE AN EXTREMELY RARE event. This entire danger to the people of the USA is due to a heating planet. A planet that does not have a conscience. A planet that exists according to physics. Physics that has no conscience and will kill anything on Earth regardless of the desires and demands of Americans.

This new dynamic on Earth is CAUSED by American Consumerism. It is due to the emissions of Greenhouse Gases. The sooner the emissions of these gases are eliminated from the consumer demands of the USA the sooner Earth will become as benevolent as it was when these trees existed.

This is a tree that lived within the borders of the USA. That is how far the American landscape has has been exploited of it's biotic content.

This is a real image. I have a lot of them. One is of a Cypress that existed in South Carolina. The wetlands of South Carolina was full of trees in similar diameter. The trees were clear cut and now they are gone and there is dearly far less CANOPY in the USA.

American forests were incredible and magnificent. The forest floors were actually easy to walk through because the forest canopy was so thick. The sunlight never reached the ground. There was dearly little content to the forest floor but tree litter. There was no danger to the forest from fire due to tree liter because the forest floor was so damp and wet there was not chance a fire could begin yet alone burn long enough to cause damage to these forests. The forest practices today are triage to keep them alive. What is the sincere definition of sustainable? It isn't about logging every 10 to 15 years. Far from it.

Understand this. In the year 2013, about 100 years after this tree lived, the BASELINE understanding of American forests is so perverted that generations can't imagine what a Heritage Forest even is, yet alone see one.

So, why are four CONSECUTIVE days of tornadoes and tornado OUTBREAKS that devastate land, destroy economies and kill possible? Because the natural resources of the USA has been pervertedly used, depriving generations of rights to them.

As a note, the hotter the oceans continue to get the more likely algae won't be able to sustain themselves to provide 60% of Earth's breathable oxygen. The oceans' heating just ain't about fishing, loss of habitat, squid and octopus. You like every breath you take? Yes?

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

There were two infants and a toddler among the children killed in four days of Heat Storms.

HERALD/TIMES TALLAHASSEE BUREAU

Gov. Rick Scott (click here) has finished the fix of the flawed election law that relegated Florida to a late-night joke in 2012 by signing an elections clean-up bill passed on the final day of the legislative session.
The measure, signed by Scott late Monday before he left for a trade mission to Chile, reverses several provisions implemented in 2011 by GOP lawmakers in anticipation of the 2012 presidential election.
Those changes, criticized by Democrats as an attempt to suppress votes for President Barack Obama, limited the early voting that the president’s campaign capitalized on in 2008. The 2011 law also prevented early voting on the Sunday before Election Day and prohibited voters, particularly students, from changing their voting address at the polls.
Scott, who had previously signed the 2011 bill into law and refused to use his executive powers to extend early voting in 2012 despite numerous requests, acknowledged the system needed a fix.
“There were inefficiencies in the 2012 General Election — and our system needed to be corrected,’’ the governor said in a statement on Tuesday. “I asked the Legislature to enhance our system of elections and they met the challenge.”...

Think "Kansas Gun Oppression" and the encroaching Koch Nation take over. Palin will be the first Queen of the USA.

If your bag is shelling out several bucks (click here) to witness phallus (flaccid), then "I Am Curious (Yellow)" is the flick for you. But it you hope for anything else (that the movie might be erotic, for example, or even funny), forget it. It's a dog. A real dog.
What I'm curious about is how Barney Rossett and his pious pornographers at Grove Press got away with it. Sure, they edged it through the courts. But how have they convinced so many yahoos to spend (at last count) $4,500,000 to see it? You'd think the word would eventually get around....

"I Am Curious Yellow" was the focus of a Supreme Court decision that liberated freedom of speech.

Posted on  by Kenny Whitebloom
...No doubt intrigued by the film’s controversy and hype, (click here) Bostonians waited in lines extending onto Huntington Ave. for tickets to the two-hour film. But “Curious” would only run five times that day, as city police arrived at the Symphony Cinemas around 5:15pm and seized the reels from both theaters, leaving audience members for the 3 and 4pm shows literally in the dark. The ban came from Massachusetts Superior Court Chief Justice G. Joseph Tauro, who issued a 60-page ruling that labeled the film obscene—and therefore subject to state regulation—after it met the Supreme Court’s three criteria for obscenity as established in the 1957 case Roth v. United States(more on that shortly)....

It is happening. Free speech since "I Am Curious Yellow" is ending and it is ending because of the million-billionaires created by 40 years of exploitative Republican politics and policy. Thank your Republican Senator and Congressman they have delivered the Grand Package of 'bought and paid for' politics to Wall Street.

The Supreme Court in the case of "I Am Curious Yellow" opened not only the right of Freedom of Speech to include movies and adventurous thinking as an expression of art to the American citizen, it unwittingly provided a platform for a burgeoning and enormous industry that now has it's own web address. But, "Yellow" was not about concentrating power because very few Porn stars can acclaim being born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Quite the contrary. "Yellow" opened the door to the least among us. "Yellow" provided a opportunity as well, along with Freedom.

Now, the Koch Brothers have so much clout within the public sector it can simply close the doors on public radio and television by withholding funding. The Koch Brothers and their exploitative industries are not interested in expanding the rights of American citizens, they are ONLY interested in controlling them.

Why is Gas Fracking so important? It is important to American Energy? Hell, no. It is important to a demand for political control that should have faded long ago.

The documentary "Citizen Koch" (click here) had two high-profile screenings at the Wisconsin Film Festival in April. But it likely won't be coming to a public television station near you.
On the day after those screenings, the filmmakers found out that their public television backers were pulling the funding, possibly to placate billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch.
"This report highlights the absolute need for broader public funding for the arts and public media, free of the influence of private donors," "Citizen Koch" co-director Carl Deal told the Capital Times on Monday.
In an illuminating new article in this week's New Yorker that posted online Monday, Jane Mayer chronicles how the documentary from Carl Deal and Tia Lessin became collateral damage in a squabble between the Koch brothers and PBS over a different documentary. "Citizen Koch" looks at the effects of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, which opened the floodgates for unlimited contributions from billionaires like the Kochs, on politics in Wisconsin....
"...FOX News inflames the masses against the government..." Where did Keith Olbermann go? Retirement? Hell, no. He DISAPPEARED.

By the way, I thought "The Ed Show" was suppose to be two hours Saturday Evening.

The United States of Corporation is being delivered.

Public television's attempt to placate David Koch (click here)

May 27, 2013

Last Fall, Alex Giney, a documentary filmmaker who won an Academy Award in 2008 for an expose of torture at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, completed a film called “Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream.” It was scheduled to air on PBS on November 12th. The movie had been produced independently, in part with support from the Gates Foundation. “Park Avenue” is a pointed exploration of the growing economic inequality in America and a meditation on the often self-justifying mind-set of “the one per cent.” As a narrative device, Gibney focusses on one of the most expensive apartment buildings in Manhattan—740 Park Avenue—portraying it as an emblem of concentrated wealth and contrasting the lives of its inhabitants with those of poor people living at the other end of Park Avenue, in the Bronx.

Among the wealthiest residents of 740 Park is David Koch, the billionaire industrialist, who, with his brother Charles, owns Koch Industries, a huge energy-and-chemical conglomerate. The Koch brothers are known for their strongly conservative politics and for their efforts to finance a network of advocacy groups whose goal is to move the country to the right. David Koch is a major philanthropist, contributing to cultural and medical institutions that include Lincoln Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In the nineteen-eighties, he began expanding his charitable contributions to the media, donating twenty-three million dollars to public television over the years....

The other type of action, (click here) in addition to the bolt, that is generally recognized as offering superior accuracy is the falling block single shot. Falling block single shot rifles were winning 1,000 yard target matches well before the turn of the 20th Century. Like the bolt action, perhaps even more so, the single shot rifle tends to be the choice of the connoisseur.

Non-Profit citizen organization seeking to impact the gun violence are no longer welcome in Kansas.

Kansas is no longer of, by or for the people. They are of, by and for the NRA. The NRA is welcome to walk all over the people and have them victims of guns.
This extremism has to be stopped. The citizens have a right to organize and be heard. That is a fundamental right of the US Constitution. In the year 2013 money dominates the political spectrum and prohibiting funding to citizen groups is ending their freedom of speech.

Kansas lawmakers (click here) continued a legislative session dominated by pro-gun measures with a bill that would prohibit using state funds to lobby for gun-control measures.
The Republican-controlled state House voted, 83-28, on Tuesday to pass legislation that would prohibit using money appropriated by the Legislature for a variety of lobbying and public relations campaigns related to gun control. The state Senate voted 31-6 on Friday to pass the bill.
The measure follows the passage of a new law that says federal gun laws do not apply to some guns in the state. Lawmakers have also considered a bill to expand the number of public buildings which allow guns, and another to allow greater open carry on city streets.
"The state government has no business appropriating any funds to lobby for or against gun control," state Sen. Greg Smith (R-Overland Park) told The Huffington Post. "The government has no right."

I home all suffering from weather across the country are a little better today.

The Weather Channel Temperature Map

The Pacific storm pulled some heat out of the troposphere enough to begin air movement to the arctic regions again. It's better to today for now. The temperatures across the country are far different beginning this day. The circulation center at the North and South Dakota border is still there, but, it's populated with water vapor today. With better air mass movement to the arctic, the Pacific storm may fade, but, I am hoping not. It took a heck of a lot of heat to get it started though. Water vapor doesn't stay on the ground these days.

US Seasonal Drought Outlook May 16, 2013

The land is recovering slowly from east to west from the drought that seemed to have peaked last year. With hurricane season coming it should remain this way through the summer.

The reason it is recovering from east to west is due to the high vegetation biotic content of the land east of the Mississippi. Given half a chance plants and trees will grow. The vegetation is one of the answers to this global problem the USA created. Returning more of the land to forest will cause shade while sunlight and infrared is reduced. Reducing CO2 is necessary.

President Obama has instilled an aggressive wildlands program for two years in his first term. It has helped. The Republican House cut funding to the program and that was a mistake. The Jersey shore bore the brunt for most of the change. Let's hope there is no repeat performance.
