Immigration

Slicing and dicing the USA border into zones with different regulations is about the worst idea ever thunk up.

The federal government oversees the borders of the USA not Texas.

The “Ports of Entry” have the greatest success in drug trafficking arrests. It is ridiculous to take attention away from those areas to place emphasis on benign human beings. We have a profound drug trafficking problem with cartels that want to kill Americans. The law enforcement focus should remain where it is most successful.

To back up that perspective, Christopher Wray made testimony to Congress there are dangerous people crossing the border and cited fentanyl as his concern in the very next statement. The greatest areas of success in ending this danger is the best approach to the USA southern border.

As stated many times before on this blog the humanitarian crisis south of the USA that drives people to cross the USA southern border must be addressed from inside other sovereign countries to empower those freely elected governments to end corruption and foster economic well being of the people, that includes the effects of the climate crisis.

It seems ridiculous to me to expect benign human beings to understand that crossing the southern border is wrong and dangerous. They come from different cultures and languages with the idea that they can work hard and earn their right to be a good citizen. The idea they are turned away and even sent back violates their idea of the USA and a morality and esteem they have about Americans. When they are deported, they become repeat offenders, try again, and are counted two and three times in the statistics Republicans live to cite as the problem.

There is crime that can result of their arrival here if they are diverted by gangs when the government fails to address them in meaningful ways. The migrants do not speak the language or are met with opportunity to do so. That language barrier is huge and will result in cultural differences and crime. The men left a country full of violence and will expect to face violence all along their travel and arrival. So, these problems are not being met with solutions so much as resistance and rejection.
