Was Former Vice President Pence crazy for refusing to get into the Secret Service car?

 No.

Mike Pence was magnificent in his dedication to the United States of America. He put the country first, no different than any soldier that fights for this country.

Former Vice President Pence has known the thinking of Secret Service personnel most of his government service career. He trusted them, his family was in the garage. He had a duty to his family as well. But, he never doubted he could continue to maintain the democracy and bring in the National Guard. He knew no matter the damage to the Capitol itself, it would still be standing to carry out the Joint Meeting of Congress and the peaceful transition of power.

His office was transported from the door opposite the Senate Chambers to the garage where he was protected by the USA Secret Service. He made calls and listened to radio transmissions from Secret Service. He wanted control and he had it.

If another Vice President was in that garage, today, the peaceful transition of power would be in jeopardy. I have no doubt in that. The country has a profound debt to Mike Pence, his family and the Secret Service that followed the directions of a man in danger of death.
