That trick was learned in “Game of Thrones” in Season 2 I believe when Cerci tells King Joffrey he has to claim heroic acts by those under his rule as his own . She insists a king has to have a heroic history of his life that is true or based in lies. She believed in order for the mob to love and embrace their king with loyalty he has to have a self - authored dialogue about his greatness.
