Sandra was an innocent person, but, the laundry list of charges were to much to bear. She saw her life ruined. She wasn't going to be able to make it to her first day of work and even if she did she had a huge fight for her return of innocence that could have imperiled her new job.
That police department, her entrapment and the abuse of her person may have just as well put her death.
There is no direct connection between marijuana and suicide. There is a study that exists whereby suicide rates were reduced by 10% among men under 40. It is stated this is the case because the stress is cut. The investigation was to determine if medical marijuana was appropriate among those patients.

Conclusions. (click here) Suicides among men aged 20 through 39
years fell after medical marijuana legalization compared with those in
states that did not legalize. The negative relationship between
legalization and suicides among young men is consistent with the
hypothesis that marijuana can be used to cope with stressful life
events. However, this relationship may be explained by alcohol
consumption. The mechanism through which legalizing medical marijuana
reduces suicides among young men remains a topic for future study.
