There are three questionably dangerous areas. The obvious is the current Cat 4 Hurricane Flossie that will assuredly pass near Hawaii, if not over it and cause considerable damage (click here).

There is a forming vortex over the Gulf of Mexico and considering the poor state of any protections of Gulf Coast communities of any country that cannot be ignored. It is a little better noted in the GOES East Water Vapor Satellite (click here).

The third concern is that 'white spot' in the lower right corner of the satellite picture. It is a tropical depression off Africa and has the potential to be a signifant hurricane as the equatorial regions have some humidity to support it no different than Flossie. These storms that will form in the tropics could lose their higher ratings when they move to higher latitudes where the humidity is more sparse.
