...just a moment before I begin...

Michael Moore is an incredible man.

And humble. If one ever attended The Traverse Film Festival what occurs is nothing short of an awakening. Of course Michael is an independant film maker. Many films at festivals are made independantly. But, what I hear repeatedly from this Michigan resident is how he wonders how his audience will react to films. He states frequently during The Traverse Festival, almost as though nervous at rejection, he is never ready for what comes in the way of an audience reaction to a film.

I was viewing a film at Traverse last year; "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With" (click here) which also showed in Provincetown this year; when I realized a few rows from the back where I was sitting was Michael and the star and I believe the director as well of the film. The film was nearing the end of the viewing when I came to that realization, probably due to the captivation of the film content. As the film ended there was applause and a standing ovation when after a few minutes these men came forward to address the audience. I realized both these men were standing at the back of the theater to come to realize the reaction of the audience. They were committed to that venue to the depths of their souls. They had to know. They certainly weren't interested in the film content, they already knew that. They had to know to what extent the audience engaged the material and it's acceptance. It was their work they put on the line as independants and they had to know.

Micheal's love for the people of the USA is not to be ignored. I listened to his latest video during his 'lobby' appearance at "Sicko" at his wetsite and I could hardly believe the dedication this man has to people. Complete strangers. Signing autographs and listening to every word directed toward him regarding the health care issue of the people of this nation. "Sicko" is solving problems for people. There is another film loop at his website of a couple nearly lost their home due to 'Private Industry Medical Insurance' and it's voluntary incompetency to close out options for people, hence insuring their profits.

Michael Moore is an American hero.

Michael Moore is an American hero.

Michael Moore is an American hero.

...end of discussion regarding the status of this man as a living legend. But. Only the beginning of the discussion which follows the audience reaction to "Sicko." Thank you, Michael.
