September 14, 2005. This is the UNYSIS GOES EAST Enhanced Infrared Satellite. Infrared is the wavelength reflected off Earth after the sun's rays have touch Earth's surface. It is easily discerned that both North American events today are off the Arctic Ocean Vortex. "Ophelia" is definately an eddy to the vortex in the North Atlantic. These systems oscillate in their 'strength' because the 'sun's rays' change from moment to moment adding or subtracting from an events velocity.
