Jenny Beth Martin (click here) is the President and Co-Founder of Tea Party Patriots. Born in Georgia in 1970, she lives in the northern suburbs of Atlanta with her husband, Lee Martin, and her son and daughter twins.
Ms. Martin wrote an Op-Ed in the New York Times stating Speaker Boehner betrayed them. Wasn't it their members that stated about the government shutdown, "We didn't know it would actually happen?"
...“They’re using our members and they’re using the American people for their own goals,” he said, calling the opposition “ridiculous.” (click here)...
...Make no mistake: The deal is a betrayal of the conservatives who fueled the Republicans’ 2010 midterm shellacking of Democrats....
It would seem as though the Tea Party is afraid of losing their seats if The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that they call Obamacare isn't hated by the electorate. It was the fear mongering of the law lasting two years that was begun before President Obama was inaugurated which provided them the momentum to take seats away from moderate Democrats and Republicans in 2010. So, with "Obamacare" entering a new era in health care in the USA these political extremists are worried now.
...It raises discretionary spending above $1 trillion for 2014 and 2015. It reneges on $63 billion of sequester cuts. Its $28 billion in deficit reduction over the next decade is a pittance compared with the $680 billion deficit piled up in 2013 alone. And it raises taxes, particularly on airplane passengers through new travel fees....
The world is not just numbers as Ms. Martin believes and that is where she and Mr. Ryan make their mistakes. Behind those numbers are the life and times of the American people. Those numbers supply services vital to the people of this nation. What is missing in the calculations Ms. Martin and Mr. Ryan make are good paying jobs and upward mobility, good educations for our children and young adults and a growing economy. The austerity the Tea Party and Mr. Ryan covet as a way forward is proven to be disastrous in other Western nations and now the Republicans regret "The Sequester."
...After attacking conservative groups for their efforts to prevent the funding of Obamacare, Mr. McConnell, who is facing a primary challenge in his 2014 re-election race, is now seeking to portray himself as a conservative darling, championing fiscal austerity by voicing opposition to the budget proposal. (My organization has not endorsed a candidate in that race.) Doing so gives him some nifty talking points that align with most conservative groups, but it is little more than parliamentary sleight of hand....
And it would seem Senate Minority Leader McConnell is left trending water lacking endorsements because he is a traitor as well. Senator McConnell obstructed vital legislation for nearly five years. That was five years the American economy lacked jobs, where food stamps were needed and where the poverty rate reached 15%. The American Jobs Act was important to revitalize schools, build necessary infrastructure, establish an infrastructure bank which was a private/public enterprise, return teachers and First Responders to work and establish more extensive access to broadband that would prove to yield a nice income for the country.
The obstruction of putting Americans back to work is the agenda of The Tea Party. Laughing at poverty and needed health care as if a game. Regarding education as an unneeded service in public schools and engaging instead private institutions that would promote a value system designed to re-elect those that instilled the institution of privatization for profit, rather than providing every Americans with the opportunity to learn.
Ms. Martin's focus is one of destruction, not one of hope. Every American is born with the understanding that if they try enough they can improve their stature and status in this country. That basic promise has been with us for centuries and all of a sudden that is suppose to vanish while the wealthy take profits while casting the Middle Class and Poor into Third World status. Well, it would seem Ms. Martin is the problem and not the country. The American people are not lazy and they are moral without being preached to by elected figures that stand on their many variety of bibles. There is no need for the country to be 'saved' from itself. Quite the contrary. Americans have had the correct vision of their nation for centuries now and until this last 10 plus years when the American Dream was trashed for Wall Street profits, that vision was solidly intact.
The Tea Party is an opportunistic set of organizations that will cause regression of our country and set it up in extremist values that guarantee war. I never thought I'd say this, but, there is actually someone more deadly than Richard Cheney.
