We know who is running now. They may as well just announce. I thought this editorial was interesting. Europe is terrified of the Tea Party after their run in with Bush post 911.
Chris Christie (click here) can say that his party can show up in the places they are not comfortable and still win
The Guardian
Mr Christie is the pro-life conservative who can get votes from women, the union-bashing Republican who can attract Hispanics and African-Americans. Whether he could repeat the same trick in New Jersey if, as a presidential candidate, he were running against Hillary Clinton, is another matter. But for now, he can now look fellow Republicans, still mesmerised by Tea Party puritans, in the eye and say that his party can show up in the places they are not comfortable and still win....
Many forget that Governor Chris Christie's star quality had him on the trail in 2012 as a favorite guest at the election podium. It wasn't just President Obama that benefited from Christi's sincerity.
I am quite confident Republicans, especially southern Republicans want to wipe the slate clean and hack away at the Governor's popularity.
Look, he wouldn't be the first Jerseyite to make the Oval Office. Grover Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson were from New Jersey. There is plenty of reason to believe the Governor has a good chance at winning the Republican nomination and succeeding into the White House.
As a matter of fact, both those Presidents served eight years. And of course, Wilson was re-elected while the USA was involved in WWI. But, Wilson was the author of "The League of Nations" now considered The United Nations. The Republican contenders have plenty to worry about, but, the Governor has a lot of work to do in New Jersey to maintain his luster before he announces his run to follow President Obama.
...In a field too often dominated either by machine politicians or weirdos, Mr Christie's attraction to independents is considerable. He has an oversized personality. He is the bruiser on the stump who can eat hecklers for breakfast. Charlie Cook of Cook Report fame said he would pay money to see him being called a liberal by a Tea Party heckler in Iowa and watching the New Jersey governor "reach down the guy's throat and pull his lungs out"....
With Presidential contenders shaking in their shorts after the Governor's win, it is easy to say the GOP won't seek to reform itself because it is the only method of separating them from a man capable of winning over the nation.
