Bush/Cheney blew it with their 'death for all' approach to foreign policy. It just didn't work. It escalated nuclear proliferation in places where the international community wanted to stop it.
North Korea can't be more impoverished. What does any reasonable person believe is going to happen there with a young leader, now married and looking at the future of any children he may have. His empathy with his people has never been greater. Does any meeting of the minds think there is going to be movement toward a peaceful resolve? Not now. His people have suffered enough. And what does the USA have as a hammer? Nuclear submarines. Oh, that is great diplomatic tool. Why do I get the feeling Kim sees himself as an international criminal?
Now, about the USA budget. While every item in our arsenal is not brand spanking new, there is a lot that can be retired without replacing it. A lot. Every other major power in the world can double their military spending and still not have the arsenal the USA brandishes.
The USA arsenal is a problem. It is a problem to the people of the USA and a problem to the global community. The USA arsenal is all to convenient to idiot leaders such as Bush and Cheney and their ideology of 'bomb, bomb, bomb.' It is a problem to the international community because idiots like Bush and Cheney never live up to peace initiatives and issues 3 page memos after being elected to basically declare war on the entire world.
If elected officials can't carry out peaceful plans of the USA across the globe while improving the poverty of nations now entrenched in criminal networks, then the people of the USA have to bring their arsenal to reasonable levels so their elected leaders HAVE to carry out peaceful initiatives and improve the poverty of other nations.
There it is. The soul of the GOP. The INVISIBLE government spending no one talks about because the people of the USA cower in fear of every other nation and PERSON in the world. Now they can cower in more fear.
The USA already dominates the international tone of the world, except, for so called Rouge Nations. They aren't rouge nations, they are nations more scared of the USA than we are of them. That is what they are.
The ONLY enemy left to the USA is the INDIVIDUAL. Osama bin Laden found that it works successfully. There is no nuclear weapon or any conventional armament that is going to stop THE INDIVIDUAL. Now, in honor of THAT fear in the USA we have turned our technology on the individual, namely ourselves in the way of drones, armed and unarmed. The USA has to be the most monitored country in the world by their own government. That is all for the sake of national security though.
Today, there are men facing life in prison that were arrested by the FBI in sting operations to bring about their ideology. Up to the point where the FBI could provide money and materials to these ideological jerks they couldn't carry out the success of a mouse trap, but, they are arrested and imprisoned today. Literally, the culture of fear in the USA has turned Americans against their own best interest and there are over 60,000 INDIVIDUALS per year dead in gun violence within its sovereign borders.
So, now Americans are suppose to demise their entitlements, destroy their own personal security with weapons and drones and call it patriotism.
I don't think so.
Oh, one other thing. The people of the USA have now entered poverty status along with the rest of the world while their military spending can't be cut because of ? jobs ?. Go straight to hell. There are peaceful ways of spending that money that will supply more jobs than anyone can imagine.
