The temperatures are drastically different in minor changes in longitude across the country.

The systems are high velocity and moving very quickly if one observes the 12 hour loop.
Just as a point of interest, the Intertropical Convergence Zone is gaining some water vapor simply because there is now a tropical storm off the northwest shoreline of Australia. The storm will drive the heat into the ocean to cool the troposphere. What is alarming about this storm is the fact water vapor from the tropics was required to bring about development of the vorticity. That is new and it is still more proof of the ever growing dangers of the Climate Crisis. Earth is headed in the wrong direction and its residents has to stop polluting the air mass surrounding this planet.

The first clue that lead to an investigation of Australia yesterday was the severe border of the air mass in the lower left corner of the satellite picture on the 9th. The border was too defined and demanded attention to detail. The water vapor content was off. Honest, it is what brought my attention to the southern hemisphere.

The vorticity at the southern border of Greenland is gone in the January 10 satellite above. That has translated into higher energy to the system closer to the Equator as the water vapor begins to be re-established. The rapid transport of energy into the equatorial region with the return of water vapor is driving the severe weather in the USA today. The system was established yesterday, but, it lacked the heat containing water vapor to drive higher energy into the system.

The most severe example of radical temperature differences in minor changes in longitude is noted in...
10 F near Grand Junction, Colorado
(Longitude 108° 33' 0" W ),
and
56 F near Dallas, Texas
(Longitude 96°48′W).
That dynamic is going to cause problems today. The systems are moving and changing quickly.
There is approximately 1000 miles between those two cities, but, on a planetary scale with a fast moving troposphere, 1000 miles is nothing.

The Weather Channel Australian Satellite
The added water vapor near the Australian continent moved the Cyclone system to a higher vorticity and provided for a storm that will move heat to the ocean.

Besides the cyclone in the northwest, there is higher water vapor over the southeast and near Brisbane. That water vapor now present in the southeast comes from the Antarctica system and is contributing to the velocity of the cyclone now that wasn't occurring yesterday. The dynamics of the water vapor supply to the cyclone is different and removes the need for equatorial water vapor. There was a change in temperature over Antarctica yesterday as this was occurring.
The Intertropical Convergence Zone will recover, but, the water vapor lent to Australia will not simply return to the Equator. The ICZ needs to 'rebuild' the water vapor from available resources there. During the time there is a drier troposphere there is damage to the carbon sinks and capacity for CO2 absorption of these areas will be reduced.
All this loss of carbon sink capacity adds up and increases to the heat within Earth's troposphere. The changes are incremental, but, it is on a path of increase and not a RETURN to a normal biotic and flourishing troposphere.

The loss of biotic content of Earth is exponential occurring at every corner of the globe. These are highly complicated systems and the unwinding of their complexity to cause a homogeneous and hot global desert takes time. Governments are playing with a timeline set to continue to limit the ability of Earth to support life at 98.6. Get over it, already!
