What a difference a equinox makes. Not much snow for the Arctic as Spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere.

2000 Petermann Glacier. The glacier today is in poor condition compared to earlier years. There is a 'time loop' by NASA from 2000 - 2008 (click here). When watching the video I thought the increasing absense of snow over the years was as profound as the depleting glacier and its poor condition and the eruption of cracks throughout the glacier. The reason the absense of snow is a concern is because it takes percipitation in the form of ice and snow to generate glacial recharge.

The Petermann Glacier in 2008, the far northwest of Greenland. The pictures are from NASA, the article at the title to this entry is from CBS. Entering into Spring, the Northern Hemisphere is again melting.
