I don't like Larry Craig for a lot of reasons. Being 'bisexual' is not one of them, nor should it be anyone else's reason.

But he is guilty of misconduct. More than the charge at Minneapolis (click here) his priorities are reflected in his statement to his constituency. And what I can't believe is that his constituency actually would appreciate the fact he would address formal police charges with a so called lie to 'make it all go away.' Really? That is an acceptable priority of a US Senator? That is not only "W"rong and grossly political over any good priority for the people of Iowa, but, it's highly unethical.

Statement of Senator Craig (click here)
..."In June, I overreacted and made a poor decision. While I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct at the Minneapolis airport or anywhere else, I chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge in the hope of making it go away....

If Senator Craig doesn't resign there needs to be an Ethics Committee hearing to determine the priorities of this Senator in relation to placing politics before good public policy. Not only that but 'lying' to hide any truth within these circumstances is simply an ethics violation and can't be overlooked. Senator Craig can't live with one foot in separate worlds. It isn't supposed to work that way and if this is the methology of the Republican Party, I suggest something be done about it.

U.S. anti-gay marriage senator admits misconduct in homosexual scandal (click here)

WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Senator Larry E. Craig, a firm gay marriage opponent, was arrested in June at an airport's men's bathroom and has pleaded guilty to misconduct, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
Craig, 62, has been fined more than 500 U.S. dollars and placed on unsupervised probation for a year, according to the report.
A 10-day jail sentence was suspended, according to a copy of a court document in the case. A second charge, interference with privacy, was dismissed....

Never a better time for Larry Craig to come out of his closet. He hasn't been chasing young interns like Mark Foley, has he?

1 Gay Marriage, Then Judge Stays Ruling (click here)
By HENRY C. JACKSON – 19 minutes ago
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Two men sealed the state's first legal same-sex marriage with a kiss Friday morning, less than 24 hours after a judge threw out Iowa's ban on gay marriage and about two hours before he put that ruling on hold.
It was a narrow window of opportunity.
Polk County Judge Robert Hanson temporarily cleared the way for same-sex couples across the state to apply for marriage licenses in the county when he ruled Thursday that Iowa's 1998 Defense of Marriage Act, which allowed marriage only between a man and a woman, violated the constitutional rights of due process and equal protection of six gay couples who had sued.
County attorney John Sarcone promised a quick appeal and asked Hanson to stay his ruling until that appeal was resolved.
A dozen gay and lesbian couples were waiting at the county recorder's office when it opened at 7:30 Friday morning....

Sen. Craig no friend to 'greens' in NW (click here)

The federally funded Fish Passage Center quietly, credibly performed its vital task of counting declining salmon runs in the Columbia-Snake River system, until it stood as a potential obstacle to agencies and politicians running the river.
The Bonneville Power Administration, in 2005, mounted a sustained campaign to stop spring discharge of water over dam spillways -- nicknamed the "fish flush" -- to aid downstream migration of young salmon. The BPA wanted to generate kilowatts for sale to California.
Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, entered the picture. He inserted "report language" in a Senate energy appropriations bill, directing Bonneville to cut off money to the Fish Passage Center and transfer its functions.
In the uproar after his disorderly conduct conviction, after an encounter at an airport men's room, Craig has been stripped of seniority on the Senate's appropriations, energy and veterans affairs committees.
The Senate's Republican leaders, and GOP brass in Idaho, are likely to force Craig to quit the world's greatest deliberative body -- or at least not seek a fourth term in 2008.
In the meantime, his actions in backrooms of the nation's capital deserve attention. Call it a Craig's List of how to block good deeds, or at least see that they don't go unpunished.
Sen. Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., came to politics out of the very conservative Wyoming Farm Bureau and American Farm Bureau. He won a third term in 2006, but collapsed in church the Sunday before the election. He died earlier this year....

A hypocritical senator's closet bit the dust today (click here)

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Another senator who sleeps with men yet casts votes for legislation that discriminates against LGBT citizens has been revealed, courtesy of Mike Rogers. He reported it on The Ed Schultz Show today. Who is it?

Idaho's Larry Craig.

Craig on the issues:

* Voted YES on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)

* Voted NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. (Jun 2002)

* Voted NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. (Jun 2000)

* Voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage. (Sep 1996)

* Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation. (Sep 1996)

Craig has a 0% rating in HRC's 2006 Congressional Scorecard.Mike Rogers' sources, in multiple cities around the country, have confirmed "characteristics" of the senator that only those who have been intimate with Craig would know. Craig's office was contacted repeatedly in advance of the outing and refused to confirm or deny whether he has had same-sex intimate encounters....

The 'value voters' of Iowa need to come to terms with the people they are electing and how they victimize the citizens of Iowa and the USA for the sake of attracting votes. It's time the USA 'deal with' the issue of Gay Rights and stop treating them like second class citizens. Larry Craig is a hypocrit turned 'power broker' with no conscience for any of his decisions so long as they lead to money and plenty of it.
