Photographer states :: As I have said before, Greek Fire was a weapon of war deveoped by the Byzantines. Today's Greek fires are all over the country. To date we have had 52 people killed and this roll will probably increase when the authorities can get into some of the more remote mountain villages. Television is showing an endless series of horrifical pictures of vehicles where people have been caught fleeing. While nobody knows for certain it seems likely that at least some of these fires were started deliberately and the Prime Minister has promised that severe measures will be taken against the perpetrators who will be hunted down with all the resources at his disposal. Poor Greece.
