Case in Point. Drought conditions below 36 North

January 9, 2006.

Russelville, Arkansas.

There was a hale storm over Russelville. The size of the hale was far larger in the upper troposphere before it hit the ground. When it did finally reach the ground where it was desperately needed, it melted nearly immediately. The lack of humidity soaks up any water in vaporization.

Photographer states :: A brief, but intense severe storm dumped a lot of pea-size hail on Russellville Arkansas tonight. At its height, it looked like it had snowed. By the time we got outside to inspect for damage, most of it was melted. One pile that was left next to the house was three inches (7.62cm) deep. The rain and hail was welcome, as the area has been in drought for several months.
