The Australian Hurricane Season

"Kate" weakens to Ex-Tropical Cyclone"Kate" continued to weaken Friday morning and has been downgraded further to be an Ex-Tropical Cyclone. Her central pressure has climbed to 995 hPa and while the satellite picture still shows a mass of cloud in the northern Coral Sea, about 400 km east-northeast of Lockhart River, the system lacks the structure required to be a Tropical Cyclone. The system will continue to be monitored and if it redevelops warnings will be reissued. Ex-TC "Kate" is still likely to produce some wet weather along the North Tropical Coast and eastern Tablelands districts of Qld and possibly to coastal areas further south.
