The "Uniform Monday Holiday Act" was enacted in 1917. That law even proposed to have July 4th celebrated on the first Monday in July. The rational of the law was to improve the economy. Well. At least holidays were good for something. I wonder what the American Christians would say if we celebrated Christmas on the last Monday of December?
