There is the culprit. Heat transfer system from the equator directly to the Antarctica Peninsula.

The South American continent serves as a 'conduit' if you will. Terra Firma is warmer than the ocean. The southern aspect of the continent facilitiates the heat from the equator to the Peninsula which is at highest latitudes of Antarctica.
