There was an article in the New York Times by Catie Edmondson (click here) indicating there might be a wind change with the Democrats. That is not the case. I do believe Democrats are frustrated with what is happening with Palestinians, including the more radical Palestinians in Gaza. Perhaps the New York Times have noticed the increased deaths of young demonstrators along the Israeli-Gaza border. I am sure there are news articles in the paper about these events.

The United States (click here) and Israel have reached final agreement on a record new package of at least $38 billion in U.S. military aid and the 10-year pact is expected to be signed within days, sources close to the matter told Reuters on Tuesday....
I suppose no aid package to Israel is ever perfect, but, the agreement struck by President Obama is historic. There is also a reason President Obama wanted to make an incredible agreement and that was so Israel knows it has a permanent and lasting partner. In that lies the understanding while the USA is always a strong partner for Israel, there is room for Israel to grow and begin peace with Palestine.
It is unfortunate Palestine is so dependent on a relationship with Israel for it's existence. It would be better for both countries and the USA if the foreign policy was simply seeking to develop a policy for two independent countries. That is not the reality. So, reassuring Israel the USA has an absolute ally, should bring about some degree of compassion for the Palestinian people.
Palestine is not a USA ally. Basically, Palestine hates the USA, yet the country's government has organizations in the USA. There have been times when Palestine not only had organizations in the USA but, those organizations were raising funds it was distributed to people on the USA Terrorist List. The USA is allowed to have it's policies.
The longer the tensions exist between the USA and Israel regarding Palestine (outside the Trump administration, which has no recognition of Palestine - the preferred policy by extremist Jews) the more criticism will be heard about Israel and it's policies.
So, perhaps the New York Times and Catie Edmondson will at some point in the future seek better quality of words from young and/or new Democratic candidates. There is no reason for hate of anyone. The violence that exists between the two countries is not because of USA policy. The USA would like all the killing to stop. The USA wants the violence to stop. The USA wants peace in the Middle East and not stalemated confrontations. I sincerely doubt any newly recruited Democratic candidate sees Israel as an enemy of the USA. I do believe many Americans, including Jewish Diaspora, are frustrated with the continued violence that is now decades old.
What would be really refreshing for Catie Edmondson to write about would be the stand by Republicans as verbalized by their president; that Egypt is responsible for the existence of Gaza. There is nothing like rewriting history. Or perhaps it is simply scapegoating, but, there is continued violence between Palestinians and Israelis and Trump is blaming Egypt for the existence of Gaza. There is no will with Trump or the Republicans to settle a peace for the region. Blaming other countries for the LACK of a peace policy is problematic. I find that stand of Republican politics rather disturbing and even genocidal for as inflammatory that might SOUND.
So, to pick on Democrats that have ambitions to end the suffering of Palestinians is a bit hypocritical. There will always be an Israel and there will always be a USA striving to improve the lives of Palestinians within it's loyalty to Israel. End of discussion.
