
(The article at the title to article is unrelated)...In May 1997 Reed found the nonprofit Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) after witnessing the devastating effect of slash-and-burn agriculture and destruction of Central American rainforests. The goal of SHI is to help farmers break free of the s&b cycle by instructing them on techniques that will nurture and replenish the soil.
